We are all waiting. Need update for P3D v4. Instant  Scenery and perhaps airport Studio. How long has this request been here from other designers?

I also think that there will be no update and certainly no new version of Instant Scenery.

Maybe there will be a completely new design software anytime or LM will improve SimDirector. He would need it until he reaches the usability of Instant Scenery.

Well I hope Konstantin does an update. And an update for Airport Studio. I was on the beta team for that one.

I guess the only question left on my mind is this. . .Instant Scenery, at least to me, seemed to be the only FS Add-On that seemed unable to keep up with the changes necessary. Most others were able to have the necessary changes made to their products in relatively short order. . .even with this latest update. Now I realize that by saying "most", that encompasses a lot of addons and there are probably some that have decided enough is enough as well, but aircraft developers, Weather Addons, scenery developers. . .all seem to be quick to release updates.

So, what was it about the inner workings of the best scenery placement tool ever, that caused the developer so much grief when others made it look relatively simple?

If you read back on some of the other threads on this topic and read this thread as well, the answer is obviously. . .No! I also asked the same question above and have not yet gotten an answer. . .very possibly that question may never get a direct answer from the developer.

For the time being, use IS3 in a version of P3D that still works. . .or even FSX. The scenery works perfectly in P3D_V4+ despite not being compiled using the correct SDK.

At some point, that will probably no longer work. . .LM will add some coding that will require scenery to only be compiled with the current SDK and workarounds will be a thing of the past, but for now that's my suggestion and it does work.

That is what I do as well. Sad to see a good tool go bad.

It wouldn't be so bad that Instant Scenery is dead if LM at least developed their own design tool further. But I can't get the Sim Director to work on my system. Despite installing the latest SDK, it always crashes when loading the libraries.
Not to mention the fact that it also lags far behind the functional range of Instant Scenery.

RIP Instant Scenery

Following is my opinion only

I truly doubt LM will code out 3rd part custom scenery placement in there SDK, but that does not indicate LM V4 SDK may require advanced skills to utilize. As long as there is access to the Add-on scenery library we will be able to insert custom scenery, just may take a new skill set. As far as a 3rd party package as in IS I also believe the costs in development may outway the recovery via retail in the store, how much would you consider a worthy investment, Anything over $50.00 US although I would and a few would pay that amount sales may not even reach the cost.

By observing the new trend in flight simming  the new users coming into the hobby may and looks like does not have the same interest in creating custom scenery like us dino's or sim pioneers did as there is a flood of great scenery in the stores now and the need or desire to create is just not as it was for us.

I also believe that soon LM and Xplane will have a divided community and such  LM and Xplane will have to facilitate a smoother platform and will include there own HD scenery and environment package even eliminating that avenue from the stores so possibly only Aircraft and other vehicles will be sold as an add-on's. Simming is evolving either out or down a different path, I think through their own stores or game hubs like Steam...

Instant Scenery for P3Dv4 is planned and I am working on it.

I cannot promise a fixed release date yet, sorry.

[EDITED]

I do not believe that the above quoted post by 'FSDiscoverer' was intended as an invitation for repeated inquiries in this forum as to the status of development or a release date.

I do believe that it would be best to express interest in using Instant Scenery in P3Dv4, and to acknowledge that it requires substantial work by the author Konstantin Kukushkin to achieve that compatibility, as well as to implement any new requested features that may be feasible.

That may- or may not- motivate the author to change his time table for work on a version of Instant Scenery intended for use with the new version 4.x of P3D, which IMHO, is only 'recently' beginning to be separately purchased, used, and discussed in FS web forums ...in quantitatively smaller numbers when compared to prior versions of P3D, FSX, and FS9.

I also believe, those who wish to use Instant Scenery in P3Dv4 should be "Prepar3D" to pay for an upgrade to a new version (...of ex: "IS4" Evil Smile ).

[END_EDIT]

GaryGB

Hear hear !

And please don't start bombarding this guy with requests for feature updates either.

Let's just pray he gets it out ! We are 12 months on, and it clearly isn't an easy job.

If I had 10 grand to spare, I'd give it him, so he pay some of the guys at FSAddons and ADE to help him develop it.

I will certainly pay 50 GBP for this if it comes out. And I await its release as patiently as possible...... which is difficult.

A good reason for folks who intend to continue doing custom scenery (Payware not included in this) to keep FSX installed so they can build everything in FSX, compile it with the FSX SDK and run it in P3D_V4.1 to their hearts content. It does work flawlessly and nary an FPS hit in any of the scenery I've produced.

I have no doubt though that at some point down the line, LM will do something with P3D that will make that option "null and void", but for now it may be the only option if Instant Scenery becomes a thing of the past.

Hey there.

Problem I have, is that bgl files made using ADE and Instant Scenery in FSX, and imported into P3Dv4.3, have major elevation issues.

Try Snow Dogs Tours for Alaska, made using IS3 in FSX. Airports are all 50 feet higher than in FSX and look stupid.

Any fix for this you know of ?

I also use IS3 in P3Dv3 and haven't had any elevation issues. And as it apparently doesn't look like an update of IS3 is nowhere to be seen in the future, I really don't care when or if it ever will be out. I have found that ADE and IS3 used in P3Dv3 and then just export the bgl to P3Dv4, works like a charm.

Well the issue may be due to Orbx stuff, or my mesh, I guess.

May I ask how you install P3D version 3 as well as 4 ?

Same or different PCs .

Do you need to pay twice.... different licences ?

Thnx again.

Snow Dogs works just fine in P3D 4 if you use the recommended mesh.Apparently you aren't.

You can have two versions of P3D, but different licenses, so you have to have bought both of them.
