    Posted: December-10-2014 at 5:55pm

I want to keep using my REX 4 water textures. I've disabled the UTX V2 "WC Waterclass layer" but I still can't get the REX 4 water textures to show. Does UTX V2 has a set of custom water textures that completely overrides any others?

I still want all of the UTX V2 water body features - I just prefer the REX 4 textures better.

What is the procedure for integrating REX 4 textures with UTX V2?

Thanks for the help!

Did you try running REX4 again and hit your texture installation button? I don't have REX4, but I have REX essential+OVERDRIVE HD. Any time I add something that I feel has replace what ever I had set up with REX, I just hit the install button, and haven't had a problem.

Firstly, waterclass is the water based equivalent of landclass i.e. all it does is specify the number of the generic water texture to use (just like the 'number' in a 'paint by numbers' picture). It is not different textures, so therefore disabling the UTX V2 waterclass layer will not change texture files themselves.

As noted in the "Terrain Menu - Change Water Color Tint" section of the user manual which was installed with the product, UTX does not come with different water texture files, it just reclassifies the waterclass definitions using the 60 different water textures which are available in FSX.

It was the waterclass that was assigning textures to water bodies that previously had another texture associated. Through trial and error I was able to get those textures assigned back to where I wanted them.
Thanks for the help!

Hi! though this is a few months old, can you please share what exactly you did/mean by:

"Through trial and error I was able to get those textures assigned back to where I wanted them" ?

I have just installed REX4 and think the same issue is happening on my setup.

Thanks!

And here we are years later and no one has bothered to tell us how to deal with this.  There is nothing worse than people asking for help, figuring out a problem or getting help elsewhere and then simply saying Never mind...I fixed it (or something similar) and NOT telling HOW.

I guess they read this somewhere:
"Always remember, you are the only one that had, has, or will ever have the problems you experience.  So never under any circumstances share how you fixed the problem with those you asked help from....because again, no one else will ever have the same problem."

Sorry, it's just one of my biggest pet peeves..  People get help or find a solution and then don't feel they owe it to anyone else to help THEM out...
