    Posted: April-10-2015 at 3:18pm
The UTX USA V2.1 release is now official.   You can purchase and download the release from Flight 1  (There are currently a few typos in the 1st paragraph that say V2.0.  But, it is V2.1).

This is a major release with a lot of new features (in addition to the features added in V2.0):

  • Brand new landclass across the entire USA.   This includes Vegetation, Urban and Custom landclass layers.    The new Urban landclass is based of newly available commercial data allowing for much better classification of cities.   Our goal is to make UTX landclass the best in its class, eliminating the need/desire to sandwhich in alternative 3rd party landclass products.
  • The Urban/Rural road classifications have been recalculated for all roads based on new landclass model.     This has resulted in a complete recompile of all roads.
  • For those that want to have as much building autogen as possible in the large downtown areas, we have moved  Urban Major roads for large downtown areas  to a separate layer.   These affected roads include only those major roads which cross into the Hi-rise building landclass textures normally used in downtown areas.    Disabling these roads greatly improves the amount of autogen for the large downtown building textures, whose buildings have a large footprint that is frequently impacted by crossing roads.   All other Major, Urban roads across the USA, outside of the downtown areas,  can remain active because the autogen is not as heavily impacted for textures with housing subdivisions.
  • All Park, Golf Course and Cemetery ground polygons have been replaced based on latest commercial GPS data.   The amount of added features over UTX USA V1.x comes to about 15% more features overall.
  • UTX USA V2.1 now includes the UTX Install Manager application, which adds new Multi-Simulator support.  The list of platforms supported includes: Boxed FSX, FSX-Steam Edition, P3D V2.1-2.4 and also P3D V2.5.
  • Lastly, this version addresses 2 outstanding issues reported after the V2.0 release (1) Corrected water elevation issues with Lake of the Ozarks.  (2) Added new feature Lake Nighthorse.

There will be no charge to upgrade for UTX USA V2.0 users.  However, this version requires a complete download and install.  So, you will need to uninstall UTX USA V2.0 or any previous versions.

Enjoy

Is there anything one should be aware of when uninstalling 2.0, or can it just be done using the Control Panel?

Thanks -

Use the uninstaller which is under the Windows Start Menu->Flight One Software folder and not the one in the Control Panel.

Do you mean the one in the FSX\Flight One software\UTUsaFsx folder? Just to make sure I use the right one.

No.  Not that one.   Use the one from the start menu

Windows Start Menu->Flight One Software -> Ultimate Terrain X - USA

The uninstaller that you mentioned is only part of the uninstallation process.   You do not want to call it directly.  By using the version specified in the Windows Start Menu you can be sure of running the correct version.

I don't see that folder or file on my system (Win 8.1, so I don't have a start menu). Maybe I'll need to reinstall v. 2.0, but I don't see that file available on the download page. Is it available from an archive somewhere, maybe?

Again, thanks in advance for any help.

There is no reason to re-install V2.0.

Knowing that you were on Windows 8.1 would also have helped us earlier. In that case the first thing to try is from the tile view, use the down arrow at the bottom left to bring up the apps list. Then scroll across and look for the Flight One Software section. If there is a UTX USA uninstaller there, you should use that one. If not, then you will need to use the Desktop view to browse into you main FSX folder. In there look for a file called something like UnInsUsa20FSX.exe.

I should also have said that I don't use the (expletive deleted) tile interface in Win 8 for anything, except to play Mahjong, Solitaire or Minesweeper.  Smile

I run everything off my desktop.

Yes, that should be the main uninstaller for UTX USA V2.0.

for me this product constitutes a landmark ... when paired with FTX Global it is the first time that I can honestly say I find LC scenery equal to or better than photoscenery vis-a-vis the qualities that are important to me ... i.e. appearance, clarity, believability as a 'real view' as opposed to a patchwork of scenery tiles ... so I think that's a 'well done' to Scenery Solutions ...

May I ask a question? In version 1.x there had been in all UTX products problems with the delivered airports. The visual part and the placement is (sometime even much)  better, but the ILS had been generally placed at the middle of the runways (localizer and glide path, too) and furthermore, what I found out recently for UTX TAC, it seems that many approaches of the original FSX had been destroyed (navaids been usually referred to in the approach section of the airports are no longer there. Example: MUCU).

Did you address those issues in Version 2.x?

Purchased UT USA last night and flew around in P3D today. It looks fantastic and I love the price.  Great add on to P3D.

Ok, I am a little confused as to which version to download.

I've switched from FSX to P3D. I did not have version 1.x installed in P3D at all, so I'd like to go straight to version 2.1 using a coupon, so I've downloaded the 2.1 wrapped from Flight1 and I'm having all sorts of issues. I applied the coupon but it doesn't work.

I know I'm doing something wrong. Do I have to install version 1.2b first into P3D?

Are you having a problem unwrapping the installer after applying the coupon ?   Or, are your issues after that.   At what point are you having problems ?

You absolutely do not need to have V1.x installed.

Hey...  I have UTX version 1.6.0  (updated from 1.0 I assume)

I see that Version2 is now avaible at a 50% discount to 1.0 users( I have the download offer, and assume during install it will allow me to point to that discount code, then prompt me to provide my 1.0 version info)

So. The question. If I want this new version 2.1, do I need to go through the prior upgrade to V2.0 first, as a complete uninstall is required for the release of Version 2.1?

Thanks

V2.1 is a complete version.  You can go straight from V1.x to V2.1.

I have no problem buying the UTX 2.1,  but have a question I need answered.  First I am in Brownsville Texas and fly out of KBRO.  A few months ago the airport closed runways 13r and 35r they also renumbered 17 and 35.  Does  UTX 2.1 show these changes and did you people ever do anything about south padre island or is it the same as in my 1.6.  If you could e-mail me oldfunflyer@yahoo.com when this is answered I would applicate it.

UTX provides enhancements to vector scenery like roads, railroads and water features. At times it may reposition inaccurately located default FSX airports to fit in with these accurately located vector features. It does not however provide updates to the default FSX airports where runways mave have closed, been built, or headings reassigned.

Jeff:

Thank you for the reply it cleared up my thinking as to what UTX has to offer all these years my old mind set was that it would be something like photo scenery.  Thanks for clearing that up, UTX is a very fine product and I am sure I will up grade to 2.1 and hope that I can find a fix for KBRO.

Hi all,
Quick question, I'm still running the older UTX USA version, getting ready to upgrade to v2.2 now.  My original/current setup has all the SceneryTech LC packages (now very old software) still 'sandwiched' in my scenery library.

With all the UTX LC upgrades mentioned in the above release notes, should we seriously consider doing away with the ST LC (sandwich) setup?  Run just the UTX LC from now on?  Would this also be true for the new UTX EUR and CAN?

Thanks so much of the LC heads-up?  Handshake
Al Jordan

The new V2.x versions of the UTX products have a greatly expanded landclass in them which includes coverage for all areas and not just primarily for urban areas like the V1.x versions. As such we think that they can be used completely standalone without the need for other third-party products. We have not taken away the ability to 'sandwich' other products, but you can now try disabling these 'sandwiched' third party products to see if you find the new complete UTX landclass gives you a better experience.

With all the new work put into correcting the land scape aspect of UTX could I expect to see the Rio Grande River looking like the Rio Grande River and running where it should be at the border between Texas and Mexico with the bridge crossings placed where they should be?  I am most interested in the area bewteen Brownsville Texas and Matamoros Mexico.

This is a hard question to answer, because different people have different expectations.    The Rio Grande river area is somewhat difficult as it is split between the USA and Mexico.   The USA side is modeled in UTX USA.   The Mexican side is provided in UTX Tropical America and Caribbean.

I have a hard time understanding why the question is hard to answer.  I'll try to simplify my question with this one.  If I buy both UTX products will the bridge crossing between Brownsville and Matamoros look like they do on Google Earth?  And does UTX Tropical America and Caribben macth up with UTX seamlessly.

I just looked at your area in question.  There is a bridge between the two cities.   But, this area needs to be improved further IMO.

Right now we are working on UTX Tropical America and Caribbean V2.    I have added the Rio Grande area as an item to be addressed in V2.    Changes to the Rio Grande may or may not also require us to release another UTX USA V2 patch.

When we released UTX Canada V2, we also had to release a UTX USA patch to improve the shared border areas between the USA/Canada.   We may have to do the same for UTX TAC V2.  Although, the Rio Grande is the only trouble spot along the borders between the two products (USA and Tropical America/Mex).

So, my suggestion to you is is wait until UTX TAC V2 is released in about a month or so.

I am just working on a new install of FSX (first time user).  I purchased a copy of UT for FS9 a little while back and was just wondering if that qualified for the coupon use of UTX ver. 2?  Thanks for your attention.

As noted on the Flight 1 product page for UTX USA here, the coupon is only available for users upgrading from version 1.x of the FSX version of the product.

Sorry for my ignorance, my question:
- Is Alaska part of the new UTX USA version 2.x?
