I'd like to report a missing watercourse in Ireland's Mid-west region. I am not sure how it eluded the data gathering process to date, but I believe that it is of sufficient length (~14km) and breadth (~100m) to warrant inclusion with the next product patch, if time and resources permit.

The absent water body is a hydro-electric scheme canal known as the Shannon Scheme. It is a broad canal that diverges from the river Shannon just below the town of Killaloe at approximately  52°45'39.88",  8°28'37.82"W. There is a 5m high bank that keeps the canal raised until the water is released to fall around 30m for electricity production at Ardnacrusha power station ( 52°42'19.75"N,  8°36'45.07"W).
It finally re-enters the Shannon river just above Limerick city at approximately  52°41'21.14"N, 8°37'38.36"W.

As far as I can ascertain, the existing course of the Shannon river itself is correct in UTX Europe for the locality in question and, perhaps apart from adding a little island after the divergence (visible in Google Earth screenshot above), does not require any adjustment.

As you may be aware, UTX products are built using the best available commercial GIS data, however in the case of Ireland, it was not up to the standard of other parts of Europe. While a lot of work was done on our part to find and correct many cases of the incorrect or incomplete geographic data, there were likely cases which were overlooked during this work. Likely this is one of those cases.

The positive news is that work is already underway on a UTX Europe v2 with updated commercial GIS data, which in the time since we first build UTX Europe, has improved for a number of countries. I will however add this case to our official issue list for UTX Europe, and will look to check it before release of the v2.

As Jeff said, we are getting close to releasing a new version of UTX Europe V2.    Beta-testing should start this week as development has completed.

Ireland has been a problem since day 1 with UTX.   While the roads in Ireland have been improved even more with the latest data, the water has not been improved.    In fact, over 1/2 of Ireland had to be hand-drawn in UTX V1.0 because of the lack of quality water.

In Version 2.0, we have spent 1/3 of the total development time on Ireland alone because of all the roads that were running on top of water.    Our focus was in V2.0 regarding ireland is to make sure that the inaccurate water features were redrawn when roads were crossing them.   So, a lot of rivers and coastlines had to be shifted.

In V2.0 currently, the situation that you have pointed out was not addressed.   However, it is not too late for us to improve this area if it is of importance.    So, the timing of this post is good.

I will see if I can get this area reworked before testing starts this week.
