GEX NORTH AMERICA v1.09

The issues addressed in version 1.09 are:

-         Replace the entire interface system to sync up all GEX current and future releases which provides a 'shared' region backup system for all GEX versions in order to reduce drive space requirements

-         Automatic detection of UTX USA, Canada or Ultimate Alaska added when the interface is run or a UTX product is added at a later date

-         Rework the UTX/GEX update patch to better render grid housing areas just outside of large urban metro locations

-         Reprocessed and improved over 90% of North America textures from past versions of GEX USA-Canada

-    Added our autogen building patch which corrects building night lighting and installs automatically

-         Replace most of the desert and mountain environments and upgraded the Grand Canyon

-         Add GEX autogen tree fix to increase performance in large forest areas

-         Developed shared textures to sync Europe v1.02 with this v1.09 release

-         Added support for Ultimate Alaska with glacier texture upgrades

-         Replace airport pads and fixed dry location airport pads

-         Made adjustments to autogen for UTX patch tiles

-         Fixed bug for backing up and restoring UTX files

-         Reduce hard tram lines where ever possible

-         Replace mountain rock textures

In order to update to v1.09 please follow these simple steps.

We have simplified this down to a very easy and painless process...   just follow the directions and answer the next questions

There are 4 classifications of users for the installation instructions. Choose the one(s) that you fall under 

They are as follows:

1. You meet the criteria of one of the next 3 categories and also use UTX USA or Canada (or both) and want backups of the default UTX files.

2. You currently use only the GEX USA-Canada product and keep backups of default FSX files from the interface.

3. You currently use both the GEX USA-Canada Product and the GEX Europe product and keep backups of default FSX files and have a shared backup directory for both products established. (one backup folder for both products)

4. You do not want or keep backups of the default FSX files.

Note: You may do anything with your backups, ie; relocate them where ever you wish and use the GEX backup interface to correct the folder path locations after these steps are followed and completed.

- If you fall under CATEGORY 1 please follow these directions before proceeding:

In order to correct a bug where ORIGINAL UTX textures were not backed up, we are providing the default UTX USA and Canada LUX layer texture files so they can be backed up and restored at any time when you install the new release of GEX North America.

Note that this patch is ONLY REQUIRED if you prefer using the default UTX tiles instead of the matched GEX version tiles (we of course recommend that you use the GEX version as they are best designed to work with GEX!).

Do NOT run any GEX USA-Canada v1.06 -1.08 interface UTX options after that patch is installed!

- If you fall under CATEGORY 2 please follow these directions:

1. Uninstall any older version of GEX USA-Canada, do NOT restore or delete your backup folder in the process!

2. Your backup folder is located by default on the root of C and named GEX-Backup. Please locate this backup folder and change the name. If you at some point move this folder, please place it back in the root of C:\

 Right click the folder and select RENAME. Change the name of that folder to:

     GEXn-Backup

3. Download the full 1.09 installer and decompress it using the Flight1 commerce utility and your key/registration information, install v1.09 and run the interface.

NOTE: you can download v1.09 at anytime just do not install it until you complete these steps in the proper order

4. Allow the backup process to complete as it will add NEW files to your backup. Then you must install your interface selections to FSX.

Your upgrade is complete.

- If you fall under CATEGORY 3 please follow these directions:

1. Uninstall any older version of GEX USA-Canada, do NOT restore or delete your backup folder in the process! Be aware, you must make sure you are running GEX Europe v1.02 in order to be in sync with North America v1.09. Before proceeding we highly suggest you update your Europe product to v1.02 first by following these steps

With a connection to the internet open the GEX Europe interface, click the UPDATES button. The interface will automatically present you with the correct patch link to download.

Download the v1.02 patch, close the interface and run the patch. Once complete open the interface and let the additional backup process complete, and then confirm you are on v1.02 (see the header at the top of the interface) and then make the selections and click “Install Selected Options”

Once the process is complete, you are ready for GEX North America with no interface or texture conflicts

2. Download the full 1.09 installer and decompress it using the Flight1 commerce utility and your key/registration information, install v1.09 and run the interface.

3. Allow the backup process to complete as it will add NEW files to your backup. Then you must install your interface selections to FSX.

DVD and Boxed GEX USA-Canada Users:

Wemade every effort to service you immediately with this update however due to some circumstances that were unforeseen and the fact that the 1.09 update was never planned to be a full product change, you will need to contact Flight1 to be given a key for the updated product.

BE AWARE, if you are a legal owner of GEX USA-Canada you will gain access to this update and Flight1 is taking steps to ensure this process is made fully automatic in the future with boxed runs of any new GEX release however please be patient with this process as Flight1 will try and expedite things for you as quickly as they can.

The 3 categories of boxed product individuals are as follows:

1. If you have the DVD edition which was ordered directly from Flight1, we can send you a download key by email. To do this, please submit a general customer service request via our ticket system at http://www.flight1.com/ticket.asp. Please provide your Flight1.com order number, name and address on the order, and email address.

2. If you got the DVD from another vendor (not Flight1.com directly), we will be implementing a DVD exchange program that will likely work as follows

a. Send can the DVD product back to a specified address we will email you a download key.

 

b. Alternately, in some cases, you may be able to provide certain proof of purchase and we will get you a download key.

3. Since we will have to change USA-CANADA to the new NORTH AMERICA product on the next DVD run, if you cannot download this update, on a case by case basis, we may offer a DVD exchange (terms have not been arranged yet since the DVD is still in production). Please be aware our next DVD production run for North America for a few weeks (this is March).
