GEX EUROPE v1.02 Now Available!

Go to the Updates option in your GEX Europe interface to download.

The issues addressed in version 1.02 are:

-         Updated entire winter season (no snow winter tiles) to address user concerns with color in winter.

-         Reworked shared textures to sync Europe with the North America v1.09 release

-         Replaced autogen and made adjustments to some UTX patch tiles

-         Fixed minor backup path issue with the backup system interface

-         Upgrades to farm fields in winter to address user concerns

-         Added generic masks to better display texture transitions

-         Replaced airport pads and fixed dry location airport pads

-         Minor changes to mountain snow and ice in hard winter

In order to update to v1.02 please follow these simple steps.

With a connection to the internet open the GEX Europe interface, click the UPDATES button. The interface will automatically present you with the correct patch link to download.

Download the v1.02 patch which is (approx) 868MB in size, close the interface and run the patch. Once complete open the interface and let the additional backup process complete, and then confirm you are on v1.02 (see the header at the top of the interface) and then make the selections and click “Install Selected Options”

Once the process is complete, you are ready for GEX North America with no interface or texture conflicts

NOTE: Remember that you do not need to keep backups of the default FSX files and can abort the backup process and instruct the interface to not ask for backups at any time.

If you do, you can not restore the default FSX textures without reinstalling FSX however some people do not want the default textures anymore once GEX is installed and that option is always available to you if you do not wish to keep a large cache of backup files.

Note: You may do anything with your backups, ie; relocate them where ever you wish and use the GEX backup interface to correct the folder path locations after these steps are followed and completed.

You must be running v1.09 of the North America product to be in sync with Europe v1.02!

If you are currently running GEX USA-CANADA v1.06 through 1.08, we advise everyone to please STOP and follow these instructions before using the v1.02 Europe product! You can use Europe with GEX USA-Canada v1.08 but nothing lower, and do not install any v1.08 (or lower) USA-Canada textures from the interface after the Europe textures have been installed!

UPGRADE USCAN to North America v1.09

Should you decide to upgrade to North America v1.09 you will need to download the full product from Flight1 which is a free upgrade to all licensed users. There is no upgrade patch to migrate to USA-Canada version 1.09 from an older version.

As of the date of publication of this document, the full v1.09 installer was not available as of yet, however Flight1 should be replacing the full USA-Canada installer at the Flight1 website with the new North America version at the same time the Europe 1.02 patch is released. See this forum for that announcement.

A.      Uninstall any older version of GEX USA-Canada, do NOT restore or delete your backup folder!

NOTE: This section is ONLY for those who have not as of yet run the full GEX Europe backup and are NOT already using the same shared backup directory with USA-Canada. If you have already run the GEX Europe backup and have established a shared backup directory, then skip to step B.

Please note the location of your current GEX-BACKUP folder and its name.

After uninstalling GEX USA-Canada v1.08 or under, your backup folder is located by default on the root of C and named GEX-Backup. Please locate this backup folder and change the name. If you at some point move this folder, please place it back in the root of C:\

Right click the folder and select RENAME. Change the name of that folder to:

REMEMBER, DO NOT change that name if you have a SHARED GEX Europe backup already established with the original USA-Canada product!

 B. Download the full 1.09 installer and decompress it using the Flight1 commerce utility and your key/registration information, install v1.09 and run the interface.

Allow the backup process to complete as it will add NEW files to your backup. Then you must install your interface selections to FSX. Once this is done there are no conflicts between GEX North America and Europe. You can use either the Europe or North America with no install order issues.
