Please start the GEXn interface and select UPDATES

You will find the latest patch. The update will appear in your interface based on what version you have installed and will automatically display the patch to update your version to 1.07.

All users on version 1.04 (enhanced) and above are urged to download and install it.

After installation please select the texture selections you normally use and reinstall them.

This update addresses autogen issues with 3 texture sets and also completely replaces one set of textures in which we identified a serious problem. It also upgrades hard winter for those replaced textures as well.

I am getting a "cannot copy file because disk is full or read only" message followed by "Do you want to continue the download" message and followed by another cannot copy file message etc. after AVG antivirus was turned off.  Disk is not full.  AVG flagged it as well.  Tried it three times.

Going to try downloading it directly from Flight1

[EDIT: not posted there yet]

No problem at all installing.  I use Avast! anti-virus.  AVG is notorious for giving false reports.

Yes, AVG has caused a lot of difficulty for many simmers.

We have so many issues with them and false positives.

I use to recommend AVG but to tell you the truth it sounds like more trouble than it is worth

NOD32 in use here

There is no virus guys.. this is a AVG issue

There are 2 versions of this patch and your interface will detect which one you need automatically. 107i is correct if you are updating from 106. If you are updating from 1.04-1.05 it will show 1.07 instead

Couple of things...

1) Maybe you could add to your 1st post just what exactly this update does, it seems an urgent request but the reason is vague?

2) If the dl update 106 to 107 is just 45mb, why do we have to reinstall all options /textures and fragment the old install?

Uninstalled AVG, installed 107 update, reinstalled AVG, all is ok now. This is the first time I have had a problem with GEX and AVG, been using both since day 1.

Did you have to uninstall avg?  Did you try disabling it first?

What is the disable option there for then? Or is there not one?

I am just a bit frustrated in this design. I wonder why users can't disable something that has a disable option?

Not only does AVG not completely disable its also known for causing performance issues with FSX, especially with UTX running.

you get what you pay for in my opinion

You guys may have to disable the SERVICE from starting at LOGON and then REBOOT

You cant just turn the service off.. use the LOGON tab and set it to DISABLED at LOGON. That should stop the AV. If it doesnt, that damn thing needs to go in the garbage and a real AV installed

1. Done.. I edited the message in the first post..

.... and if we tell you to update your install it is for a good reason    LOL

2. When you install a patch you are installing it to GEX, not FSX. You must run the GEX interface to install the new patch into FSX. Gex does not install anything until you run the interface and make those selections.

I have been using AVG for years. Just wondering, which program you would suggest in its place?
Thanks,

NOD32 is the best one. But it is a little pricey.

www.nod32.com.

Do not waste extra money on a firewall version.

I uninstalled AVG, ran the GEX update .exe, and then downloaded the new AVG (version 8), and installed that.

AVG Version 8 does not report a false positive on the GEX update .exe, at least not for me.

The perhaps their screwup was fixed in an update.. I dont expect it will be the last either. This has been going on for some time and not just with F1 products either.

As posted above I have the same problem with the update but I have never had a problem with AVG and GEX or UTX...or anything for that matter.

Recently I did install SPYbot and ran the immunize function as I believe Nick posted somewhere to do this to check for  and get rid of spyware.  Do you think this might be causing a problem, maybe in conjunction with AVG?  Anyone else do this?

Is there a way of manually downloading the GEX 1.07 update?  I do not FSX installed on an internet-connected computer and am unable to update via the interface.  My product is updated through 1.06 and I would appreciate any assistance on obtaining the update. Thank you.

If you are using v1.06, then download and install:

v1.04 or v1.05:

(without the i).

Figures..

Now if this update just stopped all their install .exe and performance issues, it would be quite an achievement

I have been using AVG since Nortons went to hell, and downloaded literally 100's of programs without it ever stopping a download. I work online and AVG runs constantly without a problem. If it works with all other programs, including all previous GE and GEX installs and updates, then obviously there is something in this update thats triggering the problem. I found a workaround by uninstalling AVG, installing the update, then reinstalling AVG, but I shouldnt have had to.

Just tried to download using AVG 7.5.524 and got the same error (trojan found).  AVG also complained about patch 1.06 and 1.05 in same folder.  Started AVG database update and a new database was just released 5/7/08 17:23 and after installing this was able to d/l patch.  After completing the 1.07i patch I ran an AVG scan against my GEX downloads folder and no threats were found.  So apparently someone got the word to Grisoft.
