I just updated to the latest FSI version.

As soon as I run it, AVG detects a trojan Horse.

I have read the previous posts about AVG False positives etc and I already had to do all the uninstalling/re-installing to get that instance fixed! That was a lot of work! I also excluded the offending files.

Now, after updating, the Trojan message appears again. This time, I told AVG to ignore it but when I start FSI now it will not initialize. Spinning, inverted etc etc? With my motion platform this makes it even worse!
<span style="line-height: 1.4;">
</span>
<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> questions:</span>

1) Why is it, that from the multitude of programs I have on my computer,it is only FSI that AVG has a problem with??
  I use AVG because it is a good antivirus and It is Free!

I should NOT have to discontinue using AVG because FSI software is doing this.

Why cannot the code be modified to prevent this?

2) Do I now have to go through the whole uninstall/reinstall procedure again!

2) Is there something in this new update that is causing the initialization to fail again?

Frustrated

AVG is notoriously overenthusiastic and has been for many years. You might see if AVG has quarantined or deleted a critical file for FSI before you do a re-install. You must also realize that the change of a single bit in an executable can trigger these sorts of alerts from all scanners - not just AVG.

What you say may be quite true and I have enough experience to realize

"that the change of a single bit in an executable can trigger these sorts of alerts from all scanners - not just AVG."

However, my point is that I am very computer literate and have many FS add ons as well as myriads of other programs that have, in my case, no adverse interactions with AVG.

If all these other pieces of software can live with AVG so should FSI!

Let's not treat the symptom lets fix the cause! and stop making excuses for what I would call FSI shortcomings!

 thank you for your input

Norm

It's absolutely irrelevant that your other add-ons don't currently annoy AVG at the moment. You may call this an FSI shortcoming - it is, in fact, a misinterpretation by AVG's heuristic scanning system. The proper course is to notify AVG and have them issue a new set of definitions.

That is complete nonsense that AVG should change it's definitions for 1 program!

.  If FSI has a problem with AVG maybe it should be posted as such so that potential buyers would be aware

As far as it being irrelevant, that is your opinion. Do not insult my intelligence. I paid for this program just the same as anybody else and have the same expectations that it will run without a lot of other encumbrances .

I'm not insulting your intelligence, you are - reporting false positives to a/v manufacturers is standard procedure. Have a great day.

Hi All,

I have contacted AVG and submitted the file, they will check it carefully and will then add FSiPanel DLL as a normal file.

This action will take a few days, as soon as I have an official reply from them I will post it here in the forum.

Thank you,

Thank you so much for Helping

 As I said , when I had contacted them months ago, they told me that any submission would have to come from the developer not just from a user
That is perfect.

Thank You for your assistance and helpful reply
