    Posted: March-24-2020 at 1:09pm
After a clean install of Windows 10 64bit and a clean install of FSX and FXS Acceleration, I installed:
GEX North America 2.0
GEX Europe
GEX Atlantic-Pacific Tropics
GEX Africa-Middle East
GEX Australia and Antarctica
GEX Asia and South America
UTX USA V2
UTX Europe V2
UTX Canada V2

After I got all of the scenery loaded and enabled when I Started FSX I got the error message:
SCENERY.CFG file error. Local scenery disrectory (Scenery\UTXLights\SCENERY) in scenery Area.153 not found. Click OK to continue.

Any ideal why this message is coming up?

Thanks,
Matt

That warning is usually caused when you have an entry in the FSX Scenery Library which points to an underlying scenery folder which does not exist.

In this case it believes that the scenery folder FSX->Scenery->UTXLights->Scenery is not there (where FSX is the main FSX folder which contains the FSX.exe).

You should first check to see if that folder actually exists.

When you did the installation of the UTX V2 products, did you also install the 'Lights for UTX' as well for at least one of them?

The folder does not exist when I check in my main FSX folder
V:\FSX\Scenery
there is no V:\FSX\Scenery\UTXLights\Scenery folder
(V: is my external SSD where FSX is installed)

If I remember correctly, there was no option to install Lights for UTX. Thanks for you reply Jeff.   Any other suggestions?

When you ran the UTX Install Manager for any of the V2 products, you would have been presented with a dialog which asked you where you wanted to install Ultimate Terrain X in the upper part of the dialog, in the lower part you will have seen the same thing for Lights for Ultimate Terrain Installation.

All you need to do is re-run the UTX Installer Manager for one of the products e.g. UTX USA V2, and instead of installing the Ultimate Terrain part, just install the Lights for Ultimate Terrain from the lower section.

See if that addresses the issue.

Thank you Jeff!   It worked.  No more error message.

Hi Jeff. I installed FSX SE  through Steam
I have purchased UTX USA and UTX EUR in January, I cannot do a complete install in FSX SE
which I think is due to a registry issue.:
https://www.simforums.com/forums/topic57694.html
- The installation completed message appears.
- The folders are all added to : FSX/Scenery
- But when I press [Exit] on the Installation Completed Screen the next screen has to open:
the Ultimate Terrain Scenery setup tool with three green V , then I get the message:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The SCENERY.CFG or other simulator file(s) could not be
located at the expected location below:
    C:\Users\Peter XXXXX\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SCENERY.CFG
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have 1 green V and 2 red XX
The Setup Tool opens but all options are grayed-out , it does not work
Also when I run : setup lights for a second time , it won't work.
I can run UTX Setup from : FSX/Flight1 Software/UltUSA_fsx but the same message
appears, the screen is grayed out. I sure wish I could reach the point where only
the lights were missing..............................
You have helped me a lot of times , you're allways a great service.
UTX is the only Landclass option I can afford in my situation..........,
I know from FS9 what a wonderfull product it is...........,
I've done Regclean , CCclean . FLIGHT1 register
There's nothing wrong with my FSX , it works wonderfull.
please please...............
regards  Peter

Peter,

Have you followed through with any steps I recommended (i.e. the RegEdit changes) in the previous thread you noted?

Please also see my reply in the other thread which you posted this in (Note it would be better to continue the discussion of the issue there)
