Actually a few questions:

- Are there "canned" aircraft panels setups included and if so are they limited to default aircraft?  What payware aircraft (example) are included in the setup files?

- Do you need FS Panel to successfully modify a panel?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,

FS Avidyne is a glass panel gauge add-on, it does not come with pre made panels or aircraft.  It does come with a tool to place a popup of the gauges which you can superimpose over an existing aircraft's 2d panel display.  It also comes with a demo version of FS Panel Studio so you can see if this additional program is of interest to you.  I have used FS Panel Studio for years and find it invaluable for making modifications to aircraft panels.  You don't have to have FS Panel Studio to make modifications, you can edit panel.cfg files with notepad but you don't have any visual indications of your mods, only textual coordinates (numbers in a x,y plane).  There are some user submitted panels for FS Avidyne that can be found here on this forum.  Learning how to modify your own panels takes some time and effort but once you've got the skills it is fun to set up a panel just how you want it.

Dr Gard thank you for your response.  After reading this months AOPA Magazine, I am most interested in embedding the panels into the Carenado Mooney.

If anybody has performed this mod I would like to see a screen shot and a copy of your config file.

Thanks

Tom

You will be able to make 2d panels with the FS Avidyne for the Carenado Mooney.  Remember the Carenado is modeled after an earlier shorter body (the intermediate stretch cabin) aircraft with smaller engine.  The VC in the Carenado Mooney has fixed positions set in the model which do not allow for placing the Avidyne gauges.  I flew a new Acclaim Thursday and it is a truly tempting aircraft.  My four year old told me after landing that I needed to buy it and I told her she needed to talk to her mother!

Dr Gard thanks again for or response.  The Acclaim Type S lists for "only" $600K.  Tell your wife that if the family were to skip going out to eat once a week that in only a short time you will have saved enought for the purchase.

It didn't work on my wife either.

Thanks again

Tom

Hi,

I am debating on whether to purchase the cessna mustang or the Avidyne glasscockpit and use the Avidyne glass gauges on the default fsx learjet on flight simulator. Would this work?

No fault to cessna or flight1, I think I'm leaning toward the Avidyne gauges and supper-impose them on the default learjet. It's personal preference. I like the glass gauges on the avidyne better. Will this affect performance of the learjet? How would this affect flight planning and flight tracking when flying?
