Hi,
I recently purchased the F1 BN-2 from the Just Flight store.
I love this plane;  however when I engage the AP the plane pitches
up abruptly and requires immediate action with the AP pitch control to
reduce attitude / vertical rate to a reasonable setting.  Can you
suggest anything to correct this monkey business ?  Perhaps I should
engage the autopilot differently.  Am I missing something ?.  Goes
anything need to be pre-set prior to AP engagement ?
Kind regards,
Ken Boardman

Hi Ken,

Do you have the aircraft trimmed  (on pressure on the controls) when engaging the autopilot?

Thank you for the reply Jim.
Yes, I believe so.  I use the FSX trim commands to trim
the BN-2 for ~600fpm climb.  Then when I engage the AP
the rate of climb increases rapidly.  I normally correct it
before it reaches 2ooofpm by spinning the mouse wheel
on the right hand rocker switch on the autopilot panel.
I'm hoping perhaps I am missing something prior to AP
engagement that will prevent this behaviour.

If you are climbing at 600 FPM, engaging ATT mode should maintain that rate of climb.  However, if your controls are not properly calibrated  (and depending on what you have maybe an enlarged neutral zone for the vertical and horizontal axes) engaging ATT could very well cause the pitch up you are seeing.

Hi Jim,
It's all good now. I changed the sequence (button pushing order ~:) for
engaging the AP.
Thank you for your help with this.  I sure do enjoy flying the SN-2.
Best regards,
Ken
