Is that what the PFD on a real 162 looks like? I looks almost cartoonish.....not that its bad, i dont mean that, but it looks a lot different then the G1000 kinda stuff. Nice pics, I'll be buying this and the 182 the second it comes out. Good luck with the rest of the development process folks.

Ish?

I've been in front of G1000's in a Mooney and... well... they look pretty cartoonish in real life, too, if that is your description of the appearance.

Note the gradient shading in the blue area of the display.  So I'm not sure what makes it "cartoonish".

I could see me owning one of these birds in real life if I were still able to fly. I'll bring my own coffee cup thankyouverymuch.LOL

Download the G300 Pilot's Guide from the Garmin site and you'll see that the real unit only has 800x400 resolution.. so yes, the real unit is limited in it's resolution.

I am always amazed when I google video and images of the real world 510 and see the displays and just how much they look like the displays of the Flight1 510.

I guess that is why Cessna promotes the Flight1 510!  Wink

I cant imagine the skycatcher displays being any less realistic.  if anything I expect they will be closer; if that is possible.

Hi all,

Those pics look jaw droppingly amazing!

I wonder Jeff, if you will make a model with 1 PFD/MFD and an autopilot?

Cheers,
Craig Tatley

Jeff?  Wink

The truth is that the 162 is a VFR only aircraft. And the equipment you see in the pics is subject to change. This aircraft is not intended to be a cross country aircraft (although it can be used as such)  So we are deciding options based on what most of the real aircraft out there have, and that as a high percentage, is 1 display screen and no autopilot. So be advised before you get out the fiery spears that the design decisions I make are based on many factors. However, just like Cessna has options, we "might" as well.

Jim as you are consider available options.... I have notice that in the real world, many of the LSA have touring versions avaiable with autopilots and GPS.

I encourage anyone looking a the 162 to study it, understand what is available and what the intention of the product is.

I often find that sometimes expectations do not always match real world counterparts, and it is important to know waht the aircraft is equipped with, what the options are (operative word here is options) and what the aircrafts primary use is.

The 162 is the new modern 152 (my opinion) and is a great, fun VFR aircraft intended to provide training at a much more affordable price than many current offerings.  Don't expect an IFR gizmo laden aircraft. That is not what it is.

+ that big glass display is indeed a GPS.  Thumbs Up

Jeez, these pics look awesome! I'm drooling like the others.

I started real world training in a 162 last week and have my third lesson today. I would LOVE to get my hands on this plane. I ordered the "other" version last night and it doesn't look that great, especially compared to this beauty. Even the rivets are gorgeous! lol

Seriously, I'd spend up to $100 right now for this 162, especially if it came with good docs for the G300. These pics show the same paint scheme as the real one I'm flying. Very nice!

So how is the plane? Is it like a 152 on steroids? How is cockpit visibility and handling for VFR manuevers?

The plane is a blast! I can't make comparisons to other planes as the 162 is the only plane I've been in to date. Handling feels really good, stall recovery is a breeze, but I am a beginner, so keep that in mind.

I go for my 4th lesson tomorrow and am really enjoying it. Will post more as I learn.

NismoRR, just curious, do you use less than a full tank of fuel? According to the Cessna website, full fuel payload is barely that of two 170 lb pilots, so even if the two weigh that much at max, the range graph suggests the resulting range is negligible. (Which doesn't really make sense.)
