Can you guys recommend a decent bit map editor to use with your product? The WinXp paint program is very limited.

Thank you

Corel PhotoPaint and JASC PaintShop Pro are good choices.

I use photoshop, but unless you want to spend a around $600 for a full retain version (or $300 with an academic discount) your best bets probably are Paint Shop Pro.  It has many of the same features that photoshop has, and is much less.  One program that is pretty good is called the GIMP.

It's been very popular as a photoshop replacment for the Linux Operating system, but is also available for the windows enviroment.  It has many of the same advanced features that programs like photoshop, PSP, and others have, just not as clean of an interface.  It will take some getting used to.

It does open and save photoshop files.  It is destributed under the GNU Public licence, meaning that if you want to make changes to it yourself, the source code is also available.  The best part is that it is 100% Free.

It is availabe from their home page:  http://www.gimp.org/

Here is a direct link to the windows download area.  http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/downloads.html
