Hello,
I don't think this 'issue' is version specific. I have button2 on my simple Logitech 3D Extreme joysick set to the default view of .5 zoom in the virtual cockpit in the latest version of P3D v4.5 in Win 10 Pro (GPU is a gtx 1070 ti). The transition time in OpusFSI is set to 0 (zero). However, when I pan around the cockpit and go back to the default .5 view by pressing button 2, there is always a 1 second delay. Since the transition time is 0, is there a way to make the change instantaneous? If not, instead of quickly snapping back to the default view after the 1 second delay can the transition be made smoother (I seem to recall that a less functional software, EZCA aka EZDoc, had this feature). Thank you. |

The delay could be caused by the sim as OpusFSI only responds to SimConnect events of button presses. If you enable button/key events in Spy within our Config dialog you will be able to see when the event is received after hitting the button. Also make sure the button is not being used for another purpose. You can also try assigning an additional key sequence to see if that’s faster or the same.
I will also take a look at the response on my system. Of course, being an external program, OpusFSI has no knowledge of your panning via SimConnect, not sure about OpusPDK interface, I’ll have to check. Stephen

The other buttons in the joystick with the exception of button 1 (brakes) and said button 2 in P3D's option controls page are unassigned. And yes, I have the Opus 'spy' window displayed when changing views in the cockpit and can view the program execution processes as they run.

Apparently, to get a smooth transition a program needs to define two camera views. An excerpt from a manual I found online detailing how a smooth transition is executed. "SMOOTH TRANSITION - switches on a smooth transition effect for a camera. At switching to the camera, the image emerges not suddenly once but smoothly moves from the position of the previous camera. The camera smooth transition effect will work only in case Smooth Transition has been activated for two cameras – the one from whose position you want to make a transition and the one to be called." I'm wondering if that functionality is already in Opus? |

Yes it does. It can also occur with the PDK interface enabled.

Just set a non zero Transition time and you should get a smooth transition when switching between OpusFSI Live Camera VC or External views. As long as the view mode doesn’t change then the transition will be smooth.
Don’t forget to check your button event response in Spy. You may need to enable reporting of button and key events within the OpusFSI Config dialog. Out of interest. How many devices do you have connected, going by those listed when opening the Spy window. Only asking because OpusFSI v5 has recently been upgraded to request all events from up to 16 joysticks. I'm always in the virtual cockpit when panning views. I'm not sure what you mean by changing the 'view mode'? Please clarify. Also, I can't find how to 'enable reporting of buttons and key events' in either the main "OpusFSI Server - Configuration Screen" and in the "OpusFSI Server - Camera Editing" screen. Is the OpusFSI Config dialog you are referring to in a different screen? With regards to how many devices I have connected I'm assuming you are only referring to game controllers. In which case I only have one (not counting a mouse, keyboard, etc). I hope this cut-n-paste helps answers your question. --- GEN Device 1 : Logitech Extreme 3D (Sim Joystick 1) GEN Screen Sizes : Primary 2048 x 1152, Virtual 2048 x 1152 GEN FSI Stations : 24519 Opus, 9084 MetStns, 6170 Sim MetStns GEN Site Effects : 97 Opus, 0 User, 97 in Total APP RELEASE VERSION 5.49.0 NOW AVAILABLE APP BETA VERSION 5.49.0 NOW AVAILABLE FSU Connected to FSUIPC Interface SIM Connected to Simulator - Prepar3D Version 4.5 Mode SIM Air Folder = IRIS Raptor Driver GEN 1 Matching Camera VC/2D/External Views For Aircraft MET Dynamic Weather Updated 7:02:54 AM MET World Wide GRIB Data, Friday, January 28, 2022, 0600 Zulu MET DHM Turbulence: 1/8 Freq 1 at Elev 6 ft MET SIM Turbulence: 3/4 Layer 0 at Base 0 ft GEN DHM Enabled DHM Thread ACTIVE and Paused DOF Thread OFF GEN View 0 Camera 0, My Pilot in Command view Turbulence 1 Throttle 0

View modes are VC, External, etc.. so when switching between views in the same view mode, switching from one VC view to another, from one External Aircraft view to another, OpusFSI will be able to execute a smooth transition between those different eye point positions.
I’m not at the computer so OpusFSI v5 may not have the Enable Button/Key Spy Messages option, that might just be OpusFSI v6 and OpusMSFS. It was just a reminder to allow you to see the reported SimConnect button/key event in the Spy window. If there’s a delay between pressing the button and the event appearing in Spy this could indicate a slow response within the sim (which issues the event to Opus via SimConnect so that OpusFSI can respond to it). I see you have a single joystick device from the Spy report. I will investigate whether requesting up to 16 Joystick events has any affect on the sims performance wrt event handling. Just in case your view switching delay is down to that. OpusFSI can only respond after it has received the button event via SimConnect. Do make sure you have not allocated the button to any other effects, shortcuts, commands, etc. I had a quick test with OpusFSI v5 and P3Dv4.5 this morning and found no problems. I am going to undertake some timings and further tests though. Regards Stephen

I should be able to undertake some tests over the weekend. If I find the sim prefers fewer joystick event requests I will produce a beta that allows you to specify how many joysticks you have or automatically enable the same number reported in the device list (one single stick in your case).
Stay safe. Stephen

Got it working. The trick was to make sure I have at least two windows or views defined (at least initially?). I'm not sure why the button events are showing up in the 'spy' windows since I couldn't have intentionally enabled them absent any option in the pop-up dialog windows that I could locate but I think they're in the spy window.

Good news. Are your button events reported in Spy without any significant delay?
Same with any smooth transitions, you will need to create at least two OpusFSI views to switch between with buttons. One hint, if you create a close up panel view (to adjust the auto pilot for example) then Disable DHM in the close up panel view. It makes it easier to make adjustments to the knobs and switches. I have unique buttons assigned to my VC views and assign them all with the same keyboard key (usually the X key as it’s not usually used in the sim). Pressing the X key will then cycle between the VC views, the buttons selecting individual views.

No significant delay in Spy.
Nice tip on close-up views. I need to check out how to disable DHM and also see how to cycle VC views using the X key in the manuals. Thanks again. Have a fantastic weekend. |

The Enable/Disable DHM option is a checkbox in the Live Camera view’s Edit dialog. Leave DHM enabled for all General VC views and disable it for your various close up panel views.
Have a nice (flying) weekend. Regards Stephen
