There are nearly hundreds of pictures in this thread and more being added.

If you have a slower internet connection and find the images are lot loading right away please allow time for the images to load

Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition

Update to v1.20

We have officially released GEP3D v1.2. You will find images below this post. I am adding more daily now so check back if you wish to see more.

The instructions below should walk you right through updating or installing the product for the first time. Please do take the time to review.

Those already running GEP3D 1.10 the process will be fairly quick and easy. For those on the original 1.0 release or just joining the club, a bit more time but very easy to accomplish.

I will be adding images as I always do and from here we will be moving into GEX updates. The links at the main Flight1 site as well as in other threads pertaining the GEP3D have all been up updated to v1.20 so no worries about downloading the wrong version.

Thank you for your continued support!

This update provides a large Europe content update as well as parts of the USA/Canada and Australia however the changes will also be seen in other locations around the world. The landclass in use will define the texture accuracy layout in the simulator. GEP3D updates are free!

PREREQUISITE:

To install the GEP3D 1.2 patch only you must have GEP3D v1.1 installed.

If you are still running the 1.0 original GEP3D release, or, installing GEP3D for the first time, instructions to obtain v1.2 are listed below.

Your interface will display the version of GEP3D you have installed under the 'Installed Version' column.

------------- TO UPDATE YOUR PRODUCT -------------

..AND YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING GEP3D v1.1

1. If you are using GEP3D v1.1 with the product ENABLED IN P3D, click the 'CHECK FOR UPDATES' button. A web page will open and the system will read/confirm your current product. It will produce a link to the GEP3D 1.2 patch.

2. With you AV/Malware scanners disabled, download the v1.2 patch.
Please make sure your AV/Malware scanners are disabled (including Windows Defender) so they will not interfere with download or installation of the product.

3. Close the GEP3D interface. Right click the patch EXE and select: Run As Administrator run the patch installer. Do not browse the patch installer. The installer is programed to locate your entire installed GEP3D system through the registry.  Install the patch

4. Open the GEP3D interface (Run as Administrator). It will run through a backup check and once complete you are ready to install the product into P3D.

5. Click the small button next to: o"Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition" and then click the ENABLE button. The button will turn green when Enabled in P3D. You can now verify version 1.20 is indeed successfully installed. The version 1.20 should appear in the INSTALLED VERSION column.

6. Once the main product is ENABLED IN FSX, if you have any UTX (Ultimate Terrain) products installed and the interface detects them, ENABLE them one at a time the same way.

Once you have enabled the features in Prepar3D you can close the interface. It does not need to run again unless you intend to make changes.

IMPORTANT:
It can be possible very aggressive AV/Malware scanners may read the GEP3D interface exe a false positive when the GEP3D interface is opened. To completely avoid this possibility enter the settings for the scanners and select to EXCLUDE the directory shown below:

C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Flight1 Aviation Technologies\GEP3D  <---- this directory and all files in it

Not GEP3D related, however I would highly suggest EXCLUDING the entire Prepar3D install directory as well. No need to have the CPU running virus checks and remove system performance from the sim. Wink

That's It! Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition v1.2 is now installed and enabled in Prepar3D.

Enjoy the changes!  Big smile

Thanks again for your continued support!

==========================================================

------------- TO UPDATE GEP3D v1.0 OR INSTALL FOR THE FIRST TIME-------------

Clicking 'Check for Updates" in the GEP3D v1.0 interface will lead back to this announcement. Due to the amount of data that has been upgraded since the initial product release there is no 'update patch' to go from v1.0 to v1.2. Updating the full product is a simple process of download, uninstall-reinstall, then enable in Prepar3D.

I am providing detailed information here in order to assist anyone  be a 1st time customer install or a upgrade install and who may need specific instructions.

The update process is very easy to do...

DOWNLOAD THE FULL GEP3D v1.2 PRODUCT

You may obtain the v1.2 product here:

MD5: 883ad8d7961c59b8a7f8816dedce10e8                 CRC-32: b902b55a

MD5: e49b54d57d25fdff31a2cf84530cd1dc                    CRC-32: d4f19259

For those who use HASH CHECK to verify files are not corrupt you can download the 2 hash check files here: GEP3D_MD5_CHECK.zip

This is a very large download. You may wish to consider the use of a download manager. If download speeds are slow it is probably because the links are experiencing heavy traffic however if you have issues getting the files such as broken links please post in the forums and let us know.

1. Please make sure your AV/Malware scanners are disabled so they will not interfere with download or installation of the product.

2. Click each link and once the files are downloaded place the 2 files in a single folder on the desktop.

3. You are now ready for the unwrap/install process. If you have GEP3D v1.0 currently installed it must be properly removed before proceeding.

If this is a first time purchase and/or use, you may skip the next section and go directly to: UNWRAP AND INSTALL GEP3D v1.2

Uninstall GEP3D v1.0 (or any GEP3D version)

NOTE: If you do not keep GEP3D backups and opted to disable the feature, you may skip to step 3 below.

1. Open the GEP3D interface by right click of the GEP3D shortcut, select: Run As Administrator.

2. In the GEP3D interface, select the green bullet next to 'Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition' and then click the DISABLE button. That will restore your backup and automatically reset the UTX features you may have enabled. Once complete, close the interface.

3. In Windows, with the GEP3D interface closed browse to: Control Panel > Programs and Features. Scroll down to 'Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition' and select to uninstall. Allow the process to complete.

NOTE: If you do not keep GEP3D backups and opted to disable the feature, you may skip to Unwrap and Install GEP3D v1.2 below.

If you do keep a backup your backup will remain on the system and will not uninstall with the product. You have three choices to work with:

a. Manually delete the backup directory GEP3D_BACKUP and start clean.

b. Leave the GEP3D_BACKUP directory alone, browse the updated GEP3D 1.2 interface to the root directory where GEP3D_BACKUP folder is located and continue to use it.

c. Keep the original GEP3D_BACKUP in another location and let the interface create a new GEP3D_BACKUP directory elsewhere on the system.

----------------------------------------------------------

UNWRAP AND INSTALL GEP3D v1.2

PRODUCT INSTALLATION INFORMATION:
GEP3D does not install any files into Prepar3D until the user runs the interface and instructs the interface to enable the files in Prepar3D. You can install the GEP3D World database on your system to any location you wish. The product does not require installation to the Prepar3D install directory where it takes up space for no reason.

Should you wish to change the default install path during the installation process you may do so. There is no install path requirement. You can elect to use the default path, or, browse the installer to the location of your choice.....

1. Please make sure your AV/Malware scanners are disabled so they will not interfere with install of the product.

2. With both files in a single folder on the desktop, right click the file: F1GEXP3D.exe and select "Run As Administrator". If you are reinstalling simply use the "Click Here to Reinstall" button and use your key/password to decompress.

If this is a first time purchase, follow the directions in the wrapper to purchase the product and begin the decompression process.

3. A license will be generated specific to your hardware. This license is required in order to run the actual installer as well as the product interface. Do not remove the C:\Flight One Software directory however you can move the decompressed installer files from that folder after installation is complete. Once finished close the wrapper/installer.

NOTE: If you elect to not automatically run the installer after the wrapper finishes decompressing the product, make sure when you do run the installer to right click GEPrepar3D.exe and select "Run As Administrator"

IMPORTANT:

FIRST RUN OF GEP3D

START THE INTERFACE:
Start the GEP3D interface by right click of the GEP3D shortcut the installer placed on the desktop, select: Run As Administrator. Follow the prompts for first run of the product. With Prepar3D v3 (and above) the interface will request a browse the Prepar3D.exe install folder the first time it is run.

Browse the interface to your Prepar3D install folder. Once located the interface will begin to perform its automated backup process. Select the backup location and allow the entire process to complete. If you have selected to use a original backup location, NO FILES will be overwritten, only added too the backup.

Enable GEP3D in Prepar3D by clicking the bullet next to the line o'Ground Environment Prepar3D World Edition'  and then click the ENABLE button. Repeat that process to enable any UTX region products that are 'LOCATED' by the interface after GEP3D World Edition is enabled.

That's it! Ground Environment Prepar3D is ready in the simulator. Remember there is no need to have the interface running after the ENABLE process is complete. The files will remain until you disable GEP3D which restores the backup to the sim.

The GEP3D Manual (HELP BUTTON) will define most issues and solutions to them should any issues arise or you are welcome to use this forum to request support.

USE OF GEP3D IN MORE THAN ONE INSTALL OF PREPAR3D

There are special instructions for those who are currently using 2 versions of Prepar3D (v2, v3 or v4) and wish to run GEP3D in both at the same time. Please refer to this post: http://www.simforums.com/forums/use-gep3d-with-more-than-one-prepar3d-installation_topic53639.html

I will add more images to this thread and note the locations.

There are no shader hacks or any 3rd party image shadow or color manipulation addons running.

It is Prepar3Dv4 with UTX as the landclass (most roads disabled) and GEP3D v1.2 as the land textures.

I am not a screenshot advertising artist and we don't hire them,.

I just take pictures as I go along! LOL

These first posts are Europe, summer season.
The more flat terrain and then onto the more scenic, urban and seasonal.

This is all in progress so check back for more additions.

I have been a bit delayed in adding pictures due to the next GEX region updates (all regions) being compiled and tested...

To start off here in North America, a few shots leaving Logan, International heading south. I will try to add more of course Smile
