New GRIB Query Server ...

Great News ...

NOAA have commissioned a new GRIB Query Server in place of the old one which went off-line in January. I am busy modifying the software to query the new server and download the resulting 'minimal' GRIB data file.

As soon as I have achieved this and validated the downloaded GRIB data I will post a new OpusFSI Beta or Release version followed soon after by a new OpusFSX release to support the former OpusFSX product.

Everything looks good. The typical size of a GRIB Query file is 4.1Mb (larger than the old server) but much better than the FULL GRIB data file size of 19.3Mb.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.47.0 has been posted making use of the new GRIB Query server.

Let me know if all is well and I will prepare new Release Versions for both OpusFSI and OpusFSX either tomorrow or Monday first thing.

Hi Stephen,
Tried the last Beta 4.47.0 en I think it is working alright.
The first time starting FSX it downloaded the whole gribdata file; took abt 2-3 minuts.
Then I realised, I probably should change the fsiserver.exe command line (I still had the attribute "FULLGRIB" added).
Pls tell me if I should or shouldn't do this.

Then, starting again the sim I could observe in the SPY:

MET  Reading Import File: C:\OPUSFSI\Weather\OpusWeather.txt

and had the weather details of any randomely chosen airport immedeately.

Thanks Joop, no need for the FULLGRIB command line argument now. I will leave support for it in for the moment just in case things at NOAA change again. But I think everything is now sorted at NOAA, looks like they replaced the old server with separate servers for each GRIB forecast type. Hopefully no more long downloads.

Stephen :-)

OpusFSI v5 Beta Version 5.27.0 has been posted...

Modified the GRIB data download procedures to accommodate the new GRIB servers. This beta is limited to downloading, extracting and decoding the FULL GRIB forecast data file.
