SimConnect is Needed ...

SimConnect is needed to provide the interface between the flight simulator (FSX, FSX-SE, or Prepar3D) and your OpusFSI software.

If you receive a system.typeinitializationexception error when running the FSISERVER or FSICLIENT programs then it most likely indicates you have not installed the SimConnect libraries.

Use our supplied Microsoft SimConnect.msi installer located in your \OpusFSX or \OpusFSI folder to install SimConnect.

Shutdown Windows Defender or your Anti Virus Program ...

Anti Virus programs, including Windows Defender, should not be active when installing, running the flight simulator software, or running addons like OpusFSX and OpusFSI. On Windows 10 the Windows Defender is a fully fledged Anti Virus program and hence should always be shut down.

Anti Virus programs can block internet and file access by the FSISERVER program and seriously slow down and impede your flight simulator's performance.

You can Google how to shutdown Windows Defender.

WINDOWS 10 ...

Running the OpusFSI.msi file (or ANY msi file without a signature) fix ...

Your Windows 10 may NOT be able to run non-signature 'msi' files to install software. This is a Microsoft problem and can be fixed as follows,

Method 1:

To run a particular application that doesn’t have a valid Digital signature follow the steps mentioned below.

1.      Right click on the file or program that you are not able to access.

2.      Go to properties and click “Unblock”.

3.      Try to run the application again.

Method 2:

Follow the steps mentioned below to unblock the files that do not have a valid digital signature.

1.      Click on start button.

2.      Type “Internet Explorer” in the “Start Search Box” and select it from the menu.

3.      Click on “Tools” in the menu bar and select “Internet Options”.

4.      Click on “Advanced tab” and locate “Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid” under the “Security” category and check the box.

5.      Click Apply and then Ok.

6.      Close the Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer.

Method 3:
1. Turn UAC OFF.
2. Run the Command Prompt in Admin Mode (not the same as you being an Admin user).
3. Type: bcdedit /set testsigning off
4. Reboot.

Windows will power up in a test mode and will allow you to run any msi file.

5. Install the msi file.

After installing the software ...

6. Run the Command Prompt in Admin Mode (not the same as you being an Admin user).
7. Type: bcdedit /set testsigning on
8. Reboot

After rebooting you should still be able to run msi files but may need to answer 'More Info' and 'Yes' to a Windows 10 user query.

Also remember when running any application when 'you' are an administrator will run the program in normal mode and not in admin mode. To force admin mode you must right click and choose 'Run As Administrator'.
