Good morning all and I wish you a very safe and happy New Year

As you can see from the attached image I have made a new gauge adapted from the warn_b747 gauge. This appears in FSPS but will not show up in FSX. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Cheers, Mac

Have you tried opening this code in an XML editor? Look like you have invalid XML, I suspect you don't want the <Element> tag at line 5. Try loading your XML in Internet Explorer, it will warn you if the source is bad.

If FSX sees bad XML it will just ignore the gauge.

That tag is closed near the bottom of the page, Ed. I started all over and rebuilt from square one, for the third time. It is now working just fine. Unsolved mystery I am afraid. Thanks for your advice. Cheers, Mac

Am having a rare problem. FSPS won't properly read the panels it has just saved.
The text version seems fine, but the load just shows the background.
It also doesn't save the id= and other pertinent data.
This is with the new build. The previous version worked just peachy.

Again, the XML file is not valid. If you open it in any XML editor or Internet Explorer you will see the error. If FSX sees invalid XML it skips the gauge.

I've edited the XML to fix the problem:

I realize this is off topic, but this is the only FSPanel Forum I could find.
I have been using this program with great success.
HOWEVER since I had a crash and recovered from an image that was pre-fs panel install, I have been having a very strange problem.
1. I can edit fine and save, the date on the panel.cfg file changes however when I re-load it either in FSX or FSPS, there are no changes.
This is very disconcerting as I have spent hours modifying panels and then discover that NOTHING SAVED!!!!

Any ideas. After I get some sleep (its 3:45am), I am going to try and installing FSPS on a different machine, actually the cockpit front and side window display of a 3 cpu system and see what happens.
Anyone else having such a problem?

HELP....

Hi,

When using FSPS (as I'm sure you know) when you make changes to a panel the original or previous version of the panel.cfg is saved as a backup. When you make your panel edits is this happening for the panel.cfg files you say are being changed ?

If you look at the modified panel.cfg in Notepad you should be able to see the changes, and if the changes have occurred I don't know of any reason why the panel changes do not appear in FSX.

I'm assuming that after your crash you reinstalled FSPS from the downloaded Wrapper file (verifying your purchase online using your Key and Code) rather than simply re-running any previously-extracted installation file.

What OS are you running? Do you have UAC turned on? Most people install FS into a Windows protected folder "C:\Program Files". If you attempt to edit files in this folder (panel.cfg) you will end up writing to a shadow copy and your original will not be modified.

Your recovered copy of FSPS may not be installed correctly, and probably does not have "run as administrator" set.

Hi,
Alistair.
Yes new reinstall from wrapper. the backup cfg.s show new dates and changes, but when I try and reload those, there are no changes. Puzzeling

Ed
Thanks for the reply.
My OS running is Win 7-64 w 12gb ddr3 on an i7 /58 evga
FSPS ran great before the disk image restore and reinstall.
For some reason it installed the DEMO version first and then the licensed version which seemed strange. I uninstalled both versions and then just the licensed version.
I am going to uninstall on my main i7 W7-64 and reinstall on my i5 W7-64 try it
and see if that resolves the problem.
Everything is networked so there isn't a problem either way.

Thanks for your assistance and I'll keep you informed.
Jill.

Well good news.
I uninstalled the program and did a regedit and removed everything FSPS and related.
It installed and did work.
Perhaps something in the demo pack was blocking some function in the program.
Remarkably, some of the changes which had been made in the previous installation were in the backups, it just wouldn't change the panel.cfg.

Anyway thanks for your assistance.

Ed. A nice feature would be to allow some combined functions.
For example when you group resize to (largest)/ (smallest) to automatically horizontally or vertically stack. (Perhaps a sub menu?)

Anyway, Ed I really like and have recommended your program. Excellent work.
