Are you doing this in flight ?

Try it stationary on the ground first.

I've just repeated both on the ground and in flight with no problems. I will look to see what may cause your 'Unable...' message.

The problem may have been caused by a zero length Grib.grib2 data file.

I have posted a new beta (5.00.1), see latest Announcement.

After GRIB download the order should be…
Extracting … produces CSV files
Decoding  … produces DAT files from the extracted CSV files
Reading    … reads the actual GRIB data from the DAT files

Ok I’ll have a look tomorrow. It shouldn’t try and do anything if the downloaded GRIB.grib2 file does not exist or is empty.

No inconvenience, just want to get you some GRIB data with the older .NET 2.0 FSX mode software. We’ll get there in the end.

I have posted beta version 5.50.2 for you to try (see Announcements).

Delete all GRIB files except for degrib.exe again.
Then request a Full Weather Reload.
After attempting to download the GRIB data examine and post the generated NOAA_QUERY.log file.

That explain a lot, you system cannot create the secure link needed for accessing the new servers. What Windows do you have, I have been testing on Win 10. Do you have Win 7, if so you will need to ensure .NET Framework 4.8 is installed. You could use our link in Announcements to ensure this.

I may be able to try to add statements to force the use of a secure protocol over your network connection. I might test these and post an update if they work. In the meantime check your .NET Framework and make sure 4.8 is installed.

I have W7
and .NET Framework 4.8 is installed.
As well as permissions for the firewall
Stephen, if we can't do it, don't worry, I'll do without the high winds.
And as soon as I have more money, I will change my PC and acquire MSFS
I keep the smile

I will try adding statements to force the secure protocol first. I think you need them with Win 7.

I have posted beta version 5.50.3 for you to try (see Announcements). This beta tries to force Win 7 to use the required security protocols when downloading the GRIB data file.

I'm afraid if this doesn't work the only option will be to upgrade to Windows 10.

Hi Stephen,

Just to thank you for solving this problem with grib data and FSX.
I had the same problem as Vincent but with FSX-SE and Windows 10.
I only could test the new beta version today, and now everything is working just fine (I may say it's faster than version 5.49.0).
Many thanks Stephen, and also thank you Vincent for raising this problem.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hello Stephen

I'm also happy to hear that everything works on FSX and especially on W10.
Unfortunately, with me and my old W7, it still doesn't work.
Fsi decode .exe does not want to run.
Stephen, thank you very much for the pains you have taken to make your program work for me.
I will therefore do without high altitude winds. It's no big deal.lol
Now I know what I have to do.....
Very warmly

I would advise you consider upgrading to Windows 10 as there is little to no support for Win 7 now, even from Microsoft. I will post a release version soon with a note explaining that Windows 10 is now needed for GRIB server access.

Regards
Stephen

I'm going to try to break my piggy bank..........

You should Google free upgrade from 7 to 10. I updated one of my PCs for free, just downloaded the installer.
