Hi Ray,

Glad to hear you are happy with OpusFSX.

You can download the CAM file from our OpusFSX website on the downloads page. Please read the instructions on our webpage since it will overwrite your existing CAM file.

Hi there. I have bitten the bullet after hearing such amazing things about this software and have purchased... and Im glad I did!

I have never experienced the amount of realism in weather as much as this. Only done a few flights, but my jaw has been on the floor since, and now Im trying to convince other simmers, this is the way to go!

Question is, in P3D/FSX settings, what is the recommended setting for 'weather changes over time'?

I know REX recommended it to be 'none'

Many thanks indeed

John

Same here, set it to NONE.

Also disable all options for real weather, and any other third-party weather sources.

Many thanks Stephen for such a quick response.

I thought so, so I will continue with this setting. I have REX installed but only use for textures and no longer weather ;)

I think I will still untick all the visibility options in REXE GUI and reload my textures again just to make sure I am not having any conflicts between the two.

Just one more question; I will be downloading the latest version of Opus. Do I just need to uninstall or do I also need to manually delete the folders too?

Many thanks

John

Do not delete your folders you will lose your configuration settings. Just uninstall via Windows in the usual manner before installing the upgrade.

Hi Stephen,

Simply testing with you my interpretation of your statement above " . . . disable all options for real weather . . . " including FSUIPC settings related to weather.

FSX Weather Tab
     Visual Settings
(set the three choices in accordance with user preference/computer capacity)
     Simulator Settings
Download winds aloft data with real-world weather: disabled (unchecked)
Disable turbulence and thermal effects on aircraft: disabled (unchecked)
Rate at which weather changes over time: No change ("None" as mentioned in your answer to John)

FSUIPC
     Winds tab
Wind smoothing: All options on page set to OFF
     Clouds Etc. tab
All options on page set to OFF

Let me know, and others, if the above settings are correct or not.

Thanks,

JJ

Any news on ehancing the DHM to simulate helicopter vibrations?  I know you are busy with LWE and TkIr improvements.  But, thought I would ask.

Really enjoying the software.

Hi Danny,

Not at the moment but we do have plans to hire a helicopter to capture the accelerometer data. A few people have actually reported the current effects work fine with helicopters.

I flew the Dodo the other night with DHM and was very pleasantly surprised to see how nice the vibrations and movements were.  I have to turn EZCA off to fly helicopters, so I'm happy to be able to use DHM now.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I used DHM with my helis as well.  I have to move the slider all the way to 10 to get reasonable vibration effect.  I no longer use EZCA, OPUS has completely replaced it for me.  I look forward to incorporation of the accelerometer data from real helo flights.

Regard,

Danny

Looks like we will have to put an eleven on the scale for you. The current vibration effects were captured and isolated as pure engine noise. Perhaps in the meantime, if I include a Rotorcraft option that will increase or double the stength of the current vibration settings.

We will get that real helo data soon for you though although its difficult to put a date on it at present.

This probably seems like a really dumb question but how do I just enable the DHM effects for the default VC view?

example - I load up a speciifc aircraft and my defualt view is the VC view. How do I then select and save the DHM effects to 'on' for this view? Im not interested in creating extra cameras or anything.

Thanks,

Glenn

That seems like an excellent interim option.  You guys are incredible!

@Glenn: I believe you just check the DHM box under that Default box.  You can adjust the DHM settings by opening the options.

Yes Glen

Just open the the Camera dialog, select your Default view, tick the DHM option (might as well tick your Default option as well just in case you do add more views in the future), open the DHM dialog and tick everything and set all sliders to the centre for now, open the AHM menu and tick all those options if you want to use AHM, click OK to return to the Cameras dialog and click on the Save All Cameras option. Then exit the dialog.

After that, each time you or LC selects that view the DHM effects will be enabled.

Stephen

Check out the Live Camera Control upgrade described on page 1 of the Live Camera topic. This upgrade evolved from the World Views and Movie Maker idea. The LCC and its panning shot options should help, of course we will adapt it to try and meet the requirements of all the users.

Hi againSmile

...Yes will be a awesome feature but I'm referring a feature that  activecam for FS9 has; a very cool feature that ables you to walk around the aircraft like if it was a first person game, even with the walk movements.. btw don't know if it is possible in FSX ..

thanks for your wonderful product and top notch supportClap

Caernarfon Trip ...

For anyone interested one of the Microlighters (Wayne) who attended our flying trip to Caernarfon in Snowdonia has posted a youtube clip of their failed attempt to see the peek of mount Snowdon due to cloud. Cheryl and I took off an hour earlier in G-OSLD and had great views - that will teach them to stay out drinking until 2:30am Smile

We all met up at Sleap (EGCV) after, allowing Cheryl and I to gloat LOL

I believe this to be a simple request (I hope) as I know it would help myself (and I'm sure many others) that have many camera views or aircraft installed...

Can you please add a maximize button on the "select aircraft types of interest" and "select camera view" popup windows?  I find the window size too small and without the ability to resize (by disabling resizing of the windows or the exclusion of a maximize button) I am constantly scrolling as I setup new cameras?  I think this to be a simple request as although I'm not sure what development environment you use but it is a simple property change in .NET :) (with docking setting to fill).

As a fellow developer I'm impressed not only at the turn around time you have for patches, enhancements, etc., but even more so that can you do that and *still* provide such detailed and thorough responses to peoples questions in the forums.  Quite remarkable in my books!

Thanks,
Andreas

Stephen, is it possible to make the winds disable/weather update disable on today's update switchable.  one of the good points about Opus is that it updates so fast that i don't mind it changing on approach - and 15 mins is a long time.  I appreciate the occasional wind shear or whaever, but if it was a switch on the weather page?

cheers, Mike

Regarding the landing update disable, I can, that would be quite straight forward. I suppose its only applicable to airliners anyway.

I suppose I should point out though that the LWE has always disable weather updates on final approach, the altitude limit used to be a little lower though. So you have always been using this feature.

But the other options must remain for now until we implement the weather smoothing then its all going to change. The default will be for VFR with no regard to any winds aloft issues or true winds aloft etc. people will have to enable the restricted options, enable true winds aloft, etc. probably only necessary for those high flyers.

There may always have to be some form of surface wind smoothing though, otherwise FSX could just go crazy and the winds would flicker all over the place. The FSX winds aloft bug is a real problem for everyone, but mostly apparent at high altitude where even stricter smoothing may be needed.

Regards
Stephen

Hi

Have just tried to install upgrade version 2.30.2.

I get a box message

The file ‘_A92092A…….’ cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file ‘_40D7985…..’. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

I am trying to upgrade from version 2.24.1 which is the version I downloaded when purchasing a few days ago. I didn’t uninstall the previous version as I read in the beta thread that this was unnecessary. Any help please on this issue.

On a separate note – fantastic weather engine! Really enjoy flying using it.

Hi Yorkshire

If you download the OpusFSX.msi file then you must uninstall before installing the new version. Do not delete your folders just use the normal Windows control panel uninstall.

The beta is supplied as a zip file, to upgrade to the beta you do not need to uninstall just extract the files into your OpusFSX installation folder. The zip file contains replacement files.

I will be producing a new release upgrade and purchase file tomorrow after completing two more test flights. So the current beta hopefully will become a release build tomorrow.

Just use the standard Windows extract to extract the files from the OpusFSX.zip file, alternatively you can use Winzip if you have it.

Regards
Stephen

P.S. Send me a fatty rascal.
