Greetings,
I not sure if this is the right place to post this, but there's a lot of knowledge here and I'm hoping to get this resolved in a timely manner. I've set the nVidia inspector with the same standard tweaks as outlined by Nick. The only problem I'm having with FS2002 is the 2D panel flicker. When AA is enabled externally the panel flickers badly and is unusable. It's like it won't redraw the panel correctly. A lot of black space and the gauges flickering in and out. With AA disabled externally it works fine. I tried adding the "PanelAsTexture=0" but that didn't seem to help. I also tried setting the FPS to 30 and setting the VSync to 1/2. Tried disabling VSync all together too. MSI GTX 960 is the card I'm using and the latest drivers and inspector. I appreciate any feedback that people have. Thanks, -Matt

I don't think you will get an answer but someone might chime in
I'm afraid that sim was outdated when FS9 was released. By the time FSX came out in 2006 anyone still on 2K had mostly moved to FS9 if their hardware couldn't handle FSX. Its been far too long for me to come up with anything. I haven't even had FS9 booted for 10 years

Hi Matt,
I'm going to have a guess at this, FS2002 is very old, but I recently went through something similar when using a high end 4K monitor with FS2004. It is a similar situation when using 3 high resolution screens in surround mode and 2D panels. The 2D window for the gauges is set to display across 3x 1920 res. monitors, however the bitmap res. for the instrument panel and gauges is too low to stretch across, and they either flicker in and out or don't display at all with a constant spinning curser. A Google search for triple wide panel fixes gives more info. Now , back to 2002 and single monitor, designed for older 4:3 monitors with around 1200 resolution and the 2d window with an even lower resolution bitmap is being stretched too far with new 1920 monitors. What I did with the 4K monitor is apply the triple fix, and reduced the size of the panel window by about 25% looked ok on such a big monitor, had to drag down the outside view to fill side spaces, but the flickering was gone. To test this theory, try to undock the window, ( the panel one), resize it, or remove using 'w' key. then create new one and resize it smaller, can't even remember how in 2002. There is also an option (in 2004) in FS display to choose high resolution 2D panels, see if it's in 2002. If reducing fixes the flickering then go into panel.cfg and reduce 'window size' from 1. (ie. fullscreen) to .9 to start, then .8 etc. If you need more info let me know. as I said, I'm guessing, FS2002 is in a cupboard somewhere collecting dust. Hope this helps, Ron. |

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the suggestion. That really seems to help. A quick workaround was to simply un-dock in place then re-dock and it seems to render just fine. I understand that mostly everyone has FS2002 shelved, however I still really enjoy flying the PSS DASH-8 300/Q300 and the DreamFleet Cardinal 177. FS Flightkeeper supports FS2002 thru FSX so I'm good there. I do have the Majestic DASH-8 400. That's for days when I feel like a real challenge. :) Thanks again for your help. -Matt |

did this issue ever got sorted out? just curious..
I loaded FS2002 recently, and experience the same issue on Win10 and external AA applied. I noticed that if on-screen info is displayed (such as coords, speed FPS..., even parking brakes), the flickering is gone on the gauges... now if I only just could figure out how to change the color of the info display to less intrusive one.... anu idea?

Hello all, just bumping this up in case someone would know how to sort this out... same issue is also under Win 7, and on various systems and laptops. Im able to run FS2002 without this nasty gauge flicker with hardware AA on an old 2006 IBM Thinkpad with ATI graphics.. With any other systems no luck so far. Thanks in advance.
