Stephen:

Enjoyed the video.  Thanks for posting it.  What model aircraft are you flying?

Hi Danny,

G-OSLD is a Europa XS Tri-Gear fitted with a Rotax 914 Turbo engine and VP Prop. She's 15 years old now with 1275 hours on the Hobbs and just had her first full engine overhaul. We are both very pleased with the result. Will post Parts 2 to 4 soon. We are new to cockpit videoing so really just in the process of setting up the GoPro and trying to improve before the touring season gets under way.

Europa G-OSLD. Winter hop to Leicester

All videos posted now ...

Best viewed in 1080p HD.

We're planning about 5 minute duration for normal takeoff/landing videos and about 10 minute duration when taxiing/parking or approach/departure is included (will only be at certain airfields). Plus some short clips when 'out and about' on tour, on stopover, dining etc. That gives us about 8 years of backup storage at the moment assuming 1080p 30fps and will provide a nice VLOG of our activities (we use 2TB Lacie mobile disks and 8TB Lacie desktop disks for a double backup). Still finding best cam position at the moment with the suction mount but it will be very near to the current position.

Europa G-OSLD Maiden Flight

G-OSLD is an excellent two seat touring aircraft. Gets us all around Europe in the flying season, typically 4 or 5 overseas trips each year. The longest tour to date 3,500 miles. She cruises at 125-135 kts depending on altitude, 120-125 kts in turbulent air. The turbo charged Rotax 914 allows us to cruise at any altitude up to 11,000 feet (only limited by oxygen), using 20 litres/hr in-flight fully loaded (70 lbs luggage), 18 litres/hr in-flight at other times (uses unleaded or Avgas). Duration 3 hrs with 20 min reserve.

Flew into EGCL Fenland today for lunch (a full English) and saw this beautiful aircraft taxiing out to RW26.

Can you guess what type it is ?

Sorry, no bananas. I’ll give you a clue, it’s a De Havilland.

yes, well done. There was a passenger sitting inside the Windowed cabin. I think it can seat six but wasn’t able to take a closer look as it was already taxiing.
