We look forward to seeing you in your simulated form. A cuppa = cup of tea.

You can find the circuit joining procedures on the White Waltham website,

http://www.wlac.co.uk/wlac/

Most likely be using RW25 tomorrow and RW28 at Panshanger (home of the North London Flying School) on Sunday.

http://www.northlondonflyingschool.com/contact-us/visiting-from-the-air/

We are just flying down from EGBN Nottingham Tollerton airport.

That would be great. We wouldn't mind being in Honolulu at the moment. We went to Hawaii to see (not) the 1991 solar eclipse, but had a great time nontheless.

Had to abandon flight due to weather, couldnt get much beyond 10 miles south of leicester due to light rain and drizzle giving very poor vis. We still plan to fly into Panshanger tomorrow.

Things hopefully will be much improved, can't be worse as we had almost zero vis at 1400 feet south of Leicester today. Look forward to seeing you, we will try and post any delays but everything should be ok, the aircraft is all prepped and ready to go. Perhaps Richard could join us and anyone else in the London area.

@sorrygottarunway, guess you had better weather than us for your flight.
We are waiting for the mist and fog to clear for todays flight, at the moment it is sunny here in Grantham but Luton is overcast at 300 ft...

Looks like its starting to lift a little. Luton now 6000m vis but still OVC003. With a bit of luck Luton area will improve enough for a late lunch.

Sitting at EGBN waiting for the METAR reports. Good vis, and cloud lifting and breaking at Luton now so will check next METAR and most likely make a move. I will post here Steve to keep you informed.

Let us know if you have a local airfield, preferably with a cafe or restaurant, and we will see about flying in sometime. Its always nice to meet like minded folk. We regularly fly to Panshanger as I have family in the area, we also regularly fly across to EGCV Sleap aerodrome near Shrewsbury. But we are usually out and about at weekends visiting one place or another so let us know if you live nearby or plan yourself to fly in somewhere.

Other airfields we regularly fly into include Caunton airfield (Nr Newark), Sturgate, Breighton, North Coates, Cromer, Fenland, in fact just about anywhere in Lincolnshire and Norfolk.

Test flying G-OSLD today at EGBN after a new 'main' electric fuel pump has been fitted and the outlet valves on one cylinder have been replaced to correct a low compression problem in that cylinder. Not really OpusFSX related I know but there will be limited support today. Looks like a nice weekend so we will be flying to various places Sat and Sun.

We will most likely fly in to Fenland EGCL on Sat 12th for the FAC Open Day and VAC Daffodil Rally, and in to Breighton airfield on Sun 13th to attend the Early Birds Fly-In. Look forward to meeting anyone who wants to join us or pop in for a cuppa and a chat. I will be wearing a dark blue Breitling cap, our pics are in the The Opus Team and Quiz topic.

We are also planning to make our first weekend fly out one weekend this month to get the touring season underway. Most likely flying down to Abbeville LFOI in Northern France for lunch, then a short hop north to Saint Omer LFQN for an overnight stop and a meal at Le Cygne. Returning direct to EGBN Nottingham (Tollerton) the next morning, usually the Sunday.

We have three other French trips planned this year, one to LFPZ St Cyr l'Ecole Paris for a family holiday, a long weekend trip down to LFEB Dinan Brittany, and a longer trip down to sunny LFBZ Biarritz. We will post details of our flight plans just in case anyone fancies flying in or meeting up at various places.

Just got PPR for the Fenland Fly-In on Saturday, should be arriving about 11am local. Probably aim to arrive at Breighton on Sunday about 11:30am to noon time.

Thanks David, the aircraft got through its test flight yesterday, no smell of fuel, no oil or coolant leaks, so it looks like we're good to go this year. I will have to take some photos of any vintage aircraft that fly in ready for a future quiz.

Attended a very busy and blustery EGCL Fenland fly-in yesterday, many vintage aircraft arrived as the parking spilt over onto the inactive runway. Posted some pics on our Facebook pages.

Another blustery but brilliant fly in at Breighton airfield today. Lots of interesting vintage aircraft on display at the home of the Real Aircraft Company (RAC), 1940s music broadcast over the tannoy. Got some nice photos, I might use some of them for another Opus quiz.

Flying in to Abbeville in France for lunch on Friday then on to Arras for a stop over and site seeing on Saturday. Returning Sunday to EGBN. Limited support likely as we are not sure about Internet coverage.

Hi Stephen,

If I'm wright you guys fly a Europa is it not? In my sim I have rediscovered the Eaglesoft Liberty XL2. I'm in the process of making camera definitions for the VC with Opus and I'm wondering how high my viewpoint should be. How much can you actually see of the nose of the aircraft?
Cheers, Bert

I will try and post an image in a short while, there's also some on Facebook, similar to this on final into Albenga. But I can't confirm how high up the camera was held. I think there might be some videos on Youtube you could look at. Best search for Europa XS.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=261366540674430&set=pb.151396078338144.-2207520000.1398940496.&type=3&theater

I think I see slightly more of the nose as the next image will indicate. Its not something you take much notice of really so I will make a point of checking exactly what I can see during tomorrows flight.

I it is much different from the photo below I will take some eye level photos for you looking forward and either side etc.

Thanks guys, this helps a lot already! In the video of the European roundtrip there's a still at 3:06 with the camera at the same hight as the eyes of the occupants, and slightly further back. Then you can barely see the nose of the aircraft. The thing is that if I set my eyepoint high in the Liberty XL2, as in the photo posted by Cheryl, the panelview gets a bit distorted; the nose of the aircraft appears, but not the top of the panel if you know what I mean. Looks like I have to compromise
Cheers, Bert

From my seat I just see a small bit of the nose, slightly less than in Cheryl's photo. Probably more like the Albenga photo on final.

We had a great time at the AeroExpo UK 2014 held at Sywell aerodrome. I think on arrival we were number five on final to 21R hard with slower aircraft and microlights on final into 21L grass to our left. A couple of aircraft got stuck in the soft ground whilst taxiing, some excellent exhibits and the usual selection of new GA aircraft, rotorcraft, and microlights on show.

I see some people have already posted GoPro videos of their landings and departures on Youtube.

Caernarfon trip, taking advantage of some fine weekend weather ...

Got some nice photos from the 'Wings and Wheels' fly-in at EGCL Fenland a few weeks back if anyone fancies a 'name that aircraft' quiz.

Our first attempt setting up an in-cockpit GoPro Hero5 Black. Not a total success as we need to sort out a TRRS to TRS plug adapter for our external button mic input (the GoPro adapter is fitted). The camera also needs repositioning. Might end up fitting a small GoPro Hero5 Session in the back of the cockpit, use the Hero5 Black hand held or dash mounted.

We had to fly a rather quick and short-final circuit (the norm at EGBN for us) so as to get out of the way of students busy doing circuit training. Join overhead 1800ft AGL at EGBN, descend into circuit at 800ft on the QFE (EGNX East Midlands airspace above at 2500ft).

Excellent, looks really good. I haven't broached the subject of putting a GoPro up on a suction mount with my instructor yet, but I fully intend to either during circuit training or most certainly will when I start soloing.
