Hello Hein,

There is still something security-wise that is still interfering with your gauge file if it is still not allowing you to load it.

I have the same problem.  I tried a fresh install from a new purchasing module (version 3.0.0.3) in a newly imaged XP box (where it used to work perfectly) but no joy.  With the security issue in mind, I downloaded a fresh version in another machine with no security to test the theory, then transferred it via thumb drive to the XP box.  Still inop.  Does the download process corrupt the file even without anti-virus turned on?

Can we get an install disc via mail and eliminate the problem?  I would rather pay for a CD and get it to work than fight with refunds.  It's a beautiful model and I hate to lose flying it over a stupid gauge file.

Razmobadbone,my friend i saw someone on this forum have a problem, with a cd version of the pc 12,cannot understand how one gauge file can cause such upset,i mean i even added the licence file to the aircrqft folder in fs 9 and then both f1pc12.gau and pc12.dll give me a error in fs9,there has to be a solution as many other fellow simmers got theirs to work.the fl1chk3d.dll exclusion from antivirus software also doesnt work,i really would like a proper solution as i paid R337 the dollar equivalent in RSA money.

Kind Regards

Hein1987 - I agree; one gauge file shouldn't create so unmanageable a problem and other forums take the easy way out and pronounce it a 'security' issue without moving forward to find and implement a solution.  Flight1 vended this product and they should stand by it - the answer may result in an inconvenience but my interest in continuing to buy their products is shrinking quickly.  How about a new version of the f1pc12.gau file because the existing iteration is obviously flawed if your friend's CD example (no download or wrapper involvement) leaves the same result.  Flight1:  is there anybody out there???

Razmobadbone,i fully agree with you cant see that its a security issue if ive excluded the fs9 folder from most of my security apps,I need a solution to this as i bought this aircraft for STOL purposes in my home country,flight1 product support has to fix this problem,i mean ive even excluded the gauge file from my anti virus program, ive only bought the ifly 737 from them and now this aircraft and i too are becoming hesitant to purchase producta from them again, hopefully we can fly this aircraft sooner rather than having to lravr it in our hangers.

Hein1987,

Are you running your sim as an administrator in Windows 7? Where do you have FS2004 installed?

Hi Jeff,I run fs9 in admin mode, and fs9 is installed in the default location c:/program files/Microsft games/Flight Simulator 9. and the entire microsoft file and sub directories are excluded from norton antivirus.

I resurrected my old machine with lots of RAM and a better graphics card, then gave it a fresh install of XP Pro (32), rather than Win 7, but no joy.  Location is the same as Hein1987.  Hope the distinction doesn't exclude me from possible solutions (?).

Hello,

The developer has the email with the issue. I am sure he will respond in the next couple days. He might be out for the weekend.

Thanks!

Hello guys,

I heard back from the developer. What he wants to know is what do you mean by "won't load a gauge file called f1pc12.gau" mean? Do you get any error messages with this prompt or others when you try to load up the aircraft? Are all the gauges dead in the cockpit? Can you provide screenshots? We need a little more info to try and solve this issue.

Hello jeff

Fs 9 gives a error that that gauge in question cant be loaded and the window stays there it doeant disappear and then u have to end fs9 via task manager.the window stays there meaning clicking ok numerous times doesnt make the error window disappear so the aircraft doesnt even load and u dont even get it the screen where fs9 loads up even after selecting the default cessna and loading it up at seatac.ill be happy to provide any other info.

Thank you jeff

Hein,

What other addons are you running in your sim?

We do recommend that you install FS9 in its own directory, and not under the Program Files folder in Windows 7. Also, I would suspect Norton is also still interfering with the file as Norton is a real bugger when it comes to trying to use flight sims with this antivirus software.

Please provide a screenshot of the screen that shows the error.

I also fly other Flight1 aircraft (421 Golden Eagle and 441 Conquest II) and both work perfectly.  In addition, it may not be related to Win 7 necessarily because I encountered the identical error message and failure to load due to the PC-12 gauge file plaguing Hein and I'm running FS9 on Win XP.  I'll include a screen cap as well - hopefully the dev guys can see a link.

I should also mention my old XP machine is isolated from the internet and has no anti-virus software installed, so that might render the Norton diagnosis irrelevant.

I don't use FS9 that much anymore, but after seeing this topic pop up almost every time I check in on the forums here, I decided to see if I help could figure it out.

I downloaded the latest FS9 installer for the PC12, reinstalled it, and sure enough, I have the same problem you folks are having.

After spending a bit of time on it this morning, I found the problem and solved it on my system.  Now I need to explain what I found to the F1 staff and let them figure out how they want to fix it.

Please hang in there...

Watching this topic as I have the same issue.
It's really nice by Flight1 and the developers to take care of a product and their customers.
Thank you.
Ciao!

Hi,

We announced about a year or longer ago end of support for this product. We can no longer test or recompile setups for it. We announced this on the product page.

The only thing I can recommend is the following:

First, download the product again... http://flight1.100megabyte.com/f1pc12_2.31_fs9.exe

Next is to search your system for flt1chk3.dll. Every instance you find of it, replace it with this version...

This will accomplish 2 things: It will make sure your license is the correct version as I believe 2 different versions were out there. It will also replace the standard flt1chk3.dll with a newer version that works with more recent operating systems.

Steve
