Hello, since i updated p3d from v4.4 to v4.5 and ezdok from 3.0.1.61 to 3.0.1.66 ezdok doesn't work anymore. I got only this:

I also tried 62 and 65. I got the same error in all versions.

First, make sure you have added both EZdok and Prepare3D as exceptions in your virus scanner.

Second, run the Configurator Utility. When it asks you to enter which Simulator you have, select "Advanced Users" at the bottom. A list will appear showing the version(s) of SimConnect that are installed. There should be four installed. If you do not have four, then go to the "...\Prepar3D v4\redist\Interface" folder on your computer and look for "SimConnect.msi" (installer) files. Install the SimConnect files and then re-use the list from the Configurator Utility to select (change) to a different version of SimConnect for EZdok to use. I am not in front of my Simulator at the moment so I cannot advise whch SimConnect version worked for me … but trial and error on your part should eventually find the one which works.

Good luck.

thx freddy_,

i am trying now what you said. I found only three installed simconnect versions. I tried the prepar3d v4 /redist/interface simconnect.msi but no change i still have only three simconnect versions. Can this be the problem? where can i got the fourth one?

This can happen if P3D takes too long to start (reach the scenario screen) due to other addons initializing comms via exe.xml or dll.xml. Once P3D has finished loading, use the File menu in the EZCA window above to restart EZCA, then wait a bit until it does (10-15 secs, perhaps).

To specifically answer your question, all 4 simconnect.msi files are in the redist folder as freddy_ mentioned. You just need to find the right subfolder:

I have the exact same problem.

I have tried all the suggestions above, and I also have only 3 Simconnect version:

10.0.60905.0
10.0.61242.0
10.0.61259.0

I have looked in my redist/interface folder and tried installing all the simconnects there.

Still only 3.

What I have discovered, is that if I don't open Active Sky, it all works fine.  When I open Active sky first, I have this issue.

I have done some more testing.

I am running P3D v4.5 with the HF1

I have the latest Active sky beta installed (7070?)

I have the EZCA 68 update installed.

The only way I can get EZCA to run is to start P3D (EZCA then hangs with the connecting with simconnect screen).  I shut down EZCA using the task manager, and then manually restart it.  This seems to work.

However, in the effects screen, it shows Active Sky being connected for turbulence, and the sim seems to give the turbulence effects.  BUT, the little box showing the level of turbulence from Active sky which used to show Light/moderate/severe now just says none!

Your problem is not with SimConnect. The fact that EZCA works after you restart it shows that it is communicating. Something is delaying the startup of P3D. Try this:

As for the turbulence, if there isn't any it will say 'None'. You can use Active Sky to set turbulence and then check EZCA.

Thanks Randy,

I have managed to get it launched using the ezlauncher method.

However, I still can't get Active Sky to show the turbulence.  I have set up a manual weather area in Active sky, the aircraft is bouncing all over the place.  The yellow effect scale bar is bouncing up and down, but the picture of showing Active Sky above it still says "None"

More testeing,

The bouncing I am getting is just the aircraft.  The turbulence doesn't seem to be effecting Ezdok, as the yellow/green effect scale bar bounces the same when I load extreme turbulence or none.  By changing the turbulence levels in Active Sky, it is effecting the aircraft, but not the head movement.

Completely confused now.

I've spent all morning uninstalling and reinstalling.  EZDOK stopped working completely again for no reason.  The only thing I think it could have been i starting REX EF before starting the sim (the way you are supposed to do it).

The ezlauncher.exe is now not working again, the only way I can get EZDOK working (some of the time, its random) is shutting down EZDOK in task manager after having loaded the sim (because it just shows the waiting for simconnect screen) and the re-starting it using EZCA.exe.

It still doesn't use any turbulence created by Active Sky, and it is random as to how many times it crashes before I manage to get it working.

Neil, it sounds like we have much the same setup. I'll do some testing this morning and get back to you. In the meantime, can you show me the contents of your exe.xml and dll.xml files in 2 locations:

%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\
%PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\

Thanks Randy,

Really appreciate your help. The annoying thing is that I had EZDOK running beautifully with P3D v4.4 so this is very frustrating.

I’ll attach copies of those 2 files when I get back from work later.

Just a quick question. Do you have the turbulence effects from AS working in 4.5 HF with version 68 of EZDOK?

I did a test using ASP4 vB7070, P3D v4.5.12.30293, EZCA v3.0.1.68 and Rex EF v5.0.2019.0503. In Active Sky I selected the ADM Challenge scenario and used the A2A C182. I launched ASP4 first, then EF (Sky Force textures already installed and SF not running), then P3D. Used the default scenario but changed the aircraft to the C182, started the scenario, then when sitting on the runway at KVPS started the ASP4 scenario. I initially had None/Light turbulence registering in EZCA but after 10-15 mins things started getting worse. As I approached the storm turbulence went from Moderate to Heavy, I encountered Wind Shear and I could see the storm out the window and on the ASP4 Map. I was on autopilot but it couldn't cope very well. Big smile
In Active Sky, all Wind options (and effects) are set to default values. P3D Weather Options has Enable turbulence and thermal effects on vehicle selected.

I think I’ll try a fresh install of Active Sky later.

Just to check, to get the latest version of EZDOK v3 I install the original using the Flight 1 installer and then just run the 68 update exe?

Correct. Uninstall first. Right-click on downloaded files, select Properties/General Tab and unblock. Run both installers as Administrator.

I have reinstalled Active Sky, and EZDOK.  Still no joy.

It still doesn't load automatically (I have to shut it down in Task Manager and then restart it by double clicking EZCA.exe).

I have checked all the exe files and they are all set to run as adminstrator.

Here are my files:

I can't get anything but NONE for turbulence

ps. one thing I have figured.  Even though my EZCA.exe is set up to run as administrator, I can only get it to load successfully if I right click the exe file and select "run as administrator"

Thanks again for your help.  This is driving me nuts

If it's showing in Task Manager it is being started by P3D.

Ok. Reboot and do not start Active Sky or Rex EF. Launch P3D and let me know how long it takes to get to the scenario select screen. Then select the default scenario (F22 @ KVPS Rwy 19) and let it load. Once you are sitting on the runway is the EZCA v3 menu visible in the add-ons menu?

Hi Randy,

It takes about 10 seconds to load up the Scenario screen in P3D.

I loaded the default scenario and EZCA does not show in the menu:

Yes, it has loaded, but just says this:

If I shut down EZCA and then restart using EZCA.exe it loads up fine and works.

But, I still have no Turbulence effects from Active sky.

I made all the changes recommended to the dll and exe files.  No improvement.

I just pray to god that I am not going to have to reinstall P3D.  The really annoying thing is that I had v4.4 working with EZCA 3 perfectly (and all other addons).  I fly using VR and v4.5 is even smoother, but I really don't enjoy flying without the added turbulence effects.

Once again, thanks for all you help

Right, I have completely uninstalled P3D and everything connected (It took 2 hours just for the de-install).

I have now got a completely vanilla install of P3D v4.5.  I have only installed Active Sky, FSUIPC and EZDOK.

EZDOK now loads ok.  But, even though the active sky logo is up, I do not get any turbulence.  I can't work out what I am doing wrong.

I would have suggested the Delete Generated Files method (shortcut in the P3D root folder) first but I didn't see your email in time. Unhappy

You aren't running Active Sky on a different computer are you? If no, your settings should look like this:

Also, you are seeing this with other aircraft?

Active Sky is installed on the same PC (different drive, but same PC).

EZDOK is connecting to it, because the Active Sky logo comes up in the effects window where you adjust the turbulence (when I don't start Active sky it has the standard METAR there).

It seems to do it with all aircraft.

Still busy reinstalling everything (5 hours so far!!!!)

It was all working fine with 4.4.  Great turbulence effects.

When you uninstalled P3D, did you delete all of the folders it generates (main folder and the ones in %APPDATA% and %PROGRAMDATA%)? Have you tried creating a new camera set from scratch (pick an aircraft/livery that you haven't flown yet)?

I deleted all the files, I haven't tried building a new camera from scratch.

However, the default aircraft which I don't normally fly also have the same problem (I am assuming they have a generic profile).

Thanks,

I get all the effects (I get some head bouncing in the air as well), but the turbulence sliders have no effect on it at all.  I can increase it to 3 and the tone right down and it makes no difference.

I tried loading a new effect in the captains camera.  No change.

The Active Sky icon above the turbulence sliders just shows none regardless of what weather is set in Active Sky.

And now, to top it off, EZCA won't load automatically again.  (just running P3D, AS, EF and navigraph charts).  I can start it manually, so at least it works.

Can you post your %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\exe.xml file? It sounds like an add-on is causing problems. You can disable some in the Options/Add-ons menu (or at the Scenario Select Screen) and restart. Others will require edits in the various exe.xml and dll.xml files. Do a reboot to ensure all add-on processes have been terminated before restarting P3D.

I just took off in the F22 from KTIK (Oklahoma City). I hod EZCA showing None on the ground but once airborne it went from Light to Severe very quickly.

That looks fine. As I mentioned in my last post, there must be an add-on that is causing issues since EZCA was loading fine before you started reinstalling your other programs. You can try the ezlauncer method again to delay the loading of EZCA but it won't fix your turbulence issue. You might need to deal with Support for that one unless someone else can offer an idea. Here is what I have in my %APPDATA%\EZCA\DB3\general.ini file if you would like to compare. I wouldn't suggest using it instead of yours, though Exclamation:

I've just made a longish flight through lots of weather, and the head movement works fine with all the effects (gear/flaps/ground roll).

When I hit turbulence, the aircraft moves around and the head does bob about a bit, but, nothing like what it did with the AS turbulence mode working (from when it was in v4.4).

What I can't figure is that EZDOK is obviously seeing AS connected, because the AS16 green writing comes on at the top of the EZDOK panel, and in effects it shows the Active Sky icon above the turbulence sliders, but it just isn't picking up anything.

On a side note, EZDOK has gone back to not starting up.  I am thinking that maybe it is linked to REX EF.  To start with, I was only using Active sky, and it started fine.  Then I installed everything else and it won't load on start up.  I have to go to the Task Manager, shut down EZDOK, and then restart it from EZCA.exe.  This is all after 8 hours of uninstalling and reinstalling.

Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to help

Neil

The thing is, EZCA must be loading or you wouldn't see it in Task Manager. If it isn't loading into P3D's add-on menu it is because it timed out. When this happens you can open the EZ window from the notification area and select File/Restart Application. That should do it. Note that I do not run Active Sky as Administrator, but that shouldn't matter. If you suspect EF, you can disable it in the %PROGRAMDATA% dll.xml:

  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>REX Environment Force</Name>
    <Disabled>True</Disabled>
    <Path>REXModules\EnvironmentForce_x64.dll</Path>
    <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
    <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
  </Launch.Addon>

But, I use EF as well.
In Resource Monitor, I can see that both AS_P3Dv4.exe and EZCA.exe are using the same Simconnect version. Can you check yours?

I DO notice that if I set a custom weather area I have to be airborne before EZCA registers any turbulence.

Flew through a CB. Still nothing registering.

Set your Active Sky settings to default and select the Debug window (icon on left side). Compare EZCA with AS as you are flying through some bad weather (e.g. Greenville, TX right now Wink)
