FS Panel Studio enables editing of a bitmap that resides in a .gauge file. It will start up your favourite paint program to make changes. When you are finished FS Panel Studio will re-insert the bitmap in the .gauge file. So far so good.

Is it possible to replace that bitmap with another bitmap of the same size? What I want to do is changing the night bitmap of a main panel with a day bitmap. I have made some changes in the panel but when it becomes dark fs changes the main panel to a night panel wich is hidden in a .gauge file. Some gauges are out of place now! I can change my altered day bitmap to become darker and give it some light effcts but how do I put that in the night.gauge?

Your help is very much appreciated.

When you edit a bitmap in a Gauge, FSPS does some sanity checks to make sure that the edited bitmap will fit when it's replaced (it can't be larger in size or number or colors) but other than that, you can do anything you want.

FSPS, Gauge edit will start PSP 9.0 with an image from the gauge. How do I get that replaced by another image and fool FSPS that the new image is the one to insert?

That is more or less the problem I face.

Thanks for your help anyway.

After PSP starts, note the temporary file name that FSPS has generated for the bitmap, then load your alternate bitmap in PSP and save with FSPS's temporary file name.

Thanks Ed. For For all to read! Here is what I do.

When I have a simalar bitmap, there are gauge bitmap extract tools,
I work on it until I am satisfied. Now I start FS Panel Studio and choose edit bitmap. This will start PSP and the bitmap is loaded into PSP. Now I load my improved bitmap, whatever the name, and copy it with Ctrl C. I then select the bitmap coming from FSPS and with Ctrl V paste the improved bitmap on top. Close PSP and the new bitmap will go back in the gauge. Like you said:The size, color depth etc. must be exactly the same as the original.

This solution is quite useful when you change the day bitmap for your panel and find that the night bitmap no longer fits your gauges etc.
Make a copy of your day bitmap, darken it if you like, you mave even create some light effects, or leave it the way it is and copy it over the night bitmap. You can use the panel light switch to get the right result for night flying.
