Hi all,

I have read through these posts regarding the problems with Avidyne .ini files, however, none have addressed my problem. Hope someone can help.

I have attempted many times to install the Avidyne MFD and PFD into a Carenado Beech Bonanza. I can go through all the procedures as outlined in the instructions, the install, the placement of the PFD and MFD on the panel and save everything. Then I go to the Settings Manager, and the aircraft is not recognized in the aircraft drop down menu.

I then went to the panel folder to look for the Avidyne.ini file, and there isn't one. If I try to fly the aircraft, I receive an error message saying the program cannot locate the .ini file and to use the Settings Manager to install it...but the plane is not there???

Any ideas?

Thanks...

I'll load up the Avidyne and give it a try for you.  I have it but do not use it regularly.  I'll have to go thru a setup and that will help because it means I will have to do everything you are trying to do, myself, from scratch.

Thank you Paul for taking the time to look into this for me. I have used the program on one other aircraft and it worked fine. I got the .ini file and the panel works great. I just can't get it to work again.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

I've been fiddling and best I can tell is that you may not have directed the sim at the right FS version (option 1) or your path is incorrect (option 2), in which case just run the registry repair tool that comes with the config tool.  Make sure everything says FSX as you move along thru the config)... We are talking FSX, right?

Actually Paul, no. I have FSX loaded along with FS9, however, prefer to use FS9.

I installed the Avidyne program listing BOTH versions of FS and indicating the path to each. When I start the Avidyne Configuration Manager, it asks which version I am wanting to install the gauges into. I select FS9 and it takes me to the config page where I can select the aircraft from the list it creates.

I was able to load the gauges, both windowed (on the 2D panel) and embedded into the virtual panel, of my Beech 18 and everything worked great. But when I attempted to load up the gauges into the Carenado Bonanza, I can load the gauges into the 2D but the program fails to create the .ini file. As a result, each time I start FS9, I get a message saying the program unable to locate the .ini file. I went to the panel folder and sure enough...no .ini file. The Beech 18 panel folder has one.

I have looked over the file names, and replaced the space between the words with "_" as was recommended elswhere in this forum but still no .ini file.

Hope this helps with the troubleshooting??

Well, I've only tried the one other aircraft. I'll try loading it into something else and let you know if it works. No I haven't contacted Carenado yet. Last time I contacted their support folks they weren't too helpfull.

Here is my panel.cfg file for the Carenado Bonanza. I noticed that for some reason, the gauge installer utility loaded the AP/FD Switch (Window 8) as the last entry??

Try putting your filename in quotes, e.g.
gauge00=f1_entegra!PFD, 0,0, 250,200,popup "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\aircraft\Bonanza_V35b\panel\fsavidyne.ini"

Also, if you're running Vista or 7 you will either need to disable UAC or run all of the tools as Administrator as you have installed FS into a protected folder.
