Hi, I downloaded FSAvidyne today. I installed it, I went to F1 GaugeConfig, I picked what Flight Simulator I am using, I picked Avidyne, I picked my plane and its panel. Then I placed PFD and MFD where I wanted. I saved it and went back to Settings Manager. I set up everything Setting Manager offers. I clicked saved and got a notice that some .ini file was wrote in. Everything seemed fine to that point. Then I started my FS9 and wanted to enjoy the ride in glass cockpit. Unfortunately, I am unable to hit ok when I am choosing my aircraft with the panel that I previously set up for Avidyne. I get this notice: Using default settings because the Avidyne Gauge INI file:"C:/program files/microsoft games/flight simulator"does not exist. You can use the F1 FSAvidyne Settings Manager program to configure and customize the Gauge for this aircraft! Any clue why this is happening? I read the manual that comes with it but it does not say a word about this. Anybody who can help me out? I would appreciate your help

This error has been previously reported on the forum, so let's hope that it is being looked into, and a fix may be forthcoming.

I have noticed that somebody was talking about similar problem and he even wanted to fly the same plane. However, I dont have any special computer skills. Dont forget, there are people who are trying to get into Flight Simulator and gaming world and dont have the experience. And I did not understand what that person was supposed to do. At the end he says he figured out the problem and that is it. Would you be willing to lead me thru? I heard there is a problem with the INI file. And it seems like I need to go to my aircraft folder and change something or type something? thanks

Hi Icepilot13, Can you post your panel.cfg for us to look at? You can open it with notepad, highlight and copy the text then paste it into this post. I am curious if the gauge installer is placing the entire location into the gauge entry. |

Actually, there is not any panel.cfg in my aircraft folder. There is always only folder called panel. Within that, there is a folder called fsavidyne that has this: [General] Thanks for helping me! |

Open up the aircraft folder for the aircraft panel you are having difficulty with and open the panel folder within that aircraft's folder. If you don't see a file called panel.cfg check for these settings: Once you can see the panel.cfg file you need to open it with notepad, if you don't know how to do this here are visual instructions: I have used the F1Tech Avidyne Student as an example since I don't have the FSAvidyne on my laptop right now so the naming structure is slightly different... don't use the example above as a naming convention for FSAvidyne, they are different. Post what you have in your panel.cfg file specifically looking at the extension the F1 gauge installer put in for the FS Avidyne gauges. You can just copy and paste your panel.cfg into this posting instead of trying to manage screenshots. |

Alright, I did that and I found out that the panel folder is there, but it is not name panel.cfg but just panel. So anyway, I opened that and there was this:
[Window04] thanks.

The developer used a non-standard naming convention for the folders which doesn't work well with the initialization files. That would hold for FSAvidyne as well as some other guages/programs using initialization files. You need to rename the folder the Seminole is in from: "Piper Seminole" to: "Piper_Seminole" and the panel folder you are wanting to place the gauges into from: "panel.16x9 IFR" to: "panel.16x9_IFR" and make sure the entries in the panel.cfg correlate exactly to the correct spelling. The space between the names is the problem. Using an underline to replace the space will fix it for you. |

Almost worked. I did everything what you said. I also changed it in the panel.cfg folder so it all correlates. I could choose my plane and load the flight with no problem now. However, I am missing all the gauges on the panel. There is nothing in the cockpit view nor in VC. Any thought why? And I tried it with other planes as well (default FS9 planes). Same problem. Thanks |

I was able to run it. I did it with some other plane though. It gives me that notice that I mentioned in the first message I posted here. Thus, I minimize FS9, click OK on the notice, go back to FS9, and for some reason, now it lets me continue. What I mean by that is - Before, when I picked the plane, then I got the notice, I had to click on it but nothing changed in FS9. It did not let me go back to FS9 "Create Flight" menu from "plane select". Now, after I clicked on the notice, it actually proceeded in my plane choice and it put me back to "create flight" menu. Therefore, I could click FLY NOW and start loading the game. Then, I get the notice again. So I repeat the all process with minimizing FS9, clicking on the notice, and returning back to the game. And then, finally, I am on the ramp with Avidyne display. Any idea why this happens? Thanks |

I'm getting the same problem, my Fs path is E:/ etc..etc.. and I have checked that this is correct in the Panel cfg. files of the Avidyne panel aircraft ( F1 Commander 112, and FSD Seneca V and Saratoga). I'm running FS9.1 with WinXP fully updated. For now all my Avidyne aircraft are unusable. Steve |

I had this problem too (reported elsewhere). I have now replaced the v1.1 gauge (f1_entegra.gau) with the v1.0 gauge, and all my Avidyne planes load up normally (obviously now as v1, so no new features). I am convinced that v1.1 has a bug in the way it is parsing the path to the avidyne.ini file. I hope that the developers can at least try to confirm/acknowledge this error. |

I have just found a work around for this problem posted in the Product Support forum. It seems you have to make a new folder in your C: root directory or some such, the answers not very clear and I am rather saddened by the apparent lack of support interest show in this product. Steve |

Yes, I saw that workaround - but the point is that I believe there is a bug yet nobody from Flight1 has actually confirmed it. For now I am staying with v1.0.

I had the same problem with configuring the FSAvidyne. The fsavidyne.ini file which was in the correct place couldn't be found when I installed the gauges in the Pilatus P-12. The following work-around is for FSX (SP2) taking a clue from Dr. Zane Gard's learned (albeit incomplete) contribution: Apparently the program can't find the location of the fsavidyne.ini file it created a few moments ago in the configuration process with the GaugeConfig utility because there are spaces (" ") in path and filenames. So I created a "spaceless" path for the .ini file for the Pilatus P-12 like this: "c:\programs\fsx_flightone_panels\f1_p-12" (seems any path will do as long as it is spaceless). Next I looked for the place where fsavidyne.ini actually is. That was C:\Programs\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Sim Objects\Airplanes\F1_Pilatus PC-12\panel (might be a bit different for you). I then opened panel.cfg (at the same place) with Editor. Towards the end I found 2 lines like "gauge00=f1_entegra!MFD, 0,0, 500,383,popup C:\Programs\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Sim Objects\Airplanes\F1_Pilatus PC-12\panel\fsavidyne.ini". I replaced the path at both places with the path of the directory I created like this: gauge00=f1_entegra!MFD, 0,0, 500,383,popup C:\Programs\FSX_FlightOne_Panels\F1_P-12\fsavidyne.ini. Then I copied the fsavidyne.ini file into that place. The new place of the .ini file will be remembered and future changes to the gauges will be saved to the new location. This is doing the trick for me but I hope FlightOne will fix the bug. Please give me feedback if this works for you, too. With some modification it should also work with FS9, but I didn't try that out. Andreas |

Try this latest version (1.2) and report back. You will need your key and password for a reinstall. Jim http://flight1.100megabyte.com/fsavidyne.exe

I bought FSAvidyne yesterday, and spent quite a bit of time trying to use the settings manager to set up the various engine gauge parameters for the (stock) Cessna Caravan in FSX. This turned out to be somewhat of a hair-pulling experience - values didn't seem to "stick" when using the utility, and I ended up manually editing the .ini file to get what I wanted.
I am wondering if the problems described in this thread would are related to what I'm seeing, or is my problem a different one? thanks, Dave Blevins |

If the files are not being saved, it's likely an issue with a read-only folder, write permissions or something similar. Are you running Vista?

Jim Thanks much for the update just in time for me to download it when I get home tomorrow. The reason I said I was diappointed with the support was because I'm not used to getting products from Flight1 that need urgent fixing. I wasn't doubting that it would be fixed but I didn't see any post saying the problem was being looked at. I should have known better. Thanks again Steve

Hi,
Does this update include the single turboprop code as well? Or do I need to update it separately somehow? Thanks, corkynm |

someone would have to pay me a fair stack o' cash to run Vista. I'm avoiding it like the plague as long as is practical - hopefully forever.
The folder is not read-only... Dave. |

I have had a problem posted now for about a week with still no reply. I hate to sound crabby about the support on this product, but I would really like to fly this gauge since it was a $32 purchase.
I have followed the recommendations in this forum with no positive results and would like to know someone is working the issue.
Thanks
