ALL AV AND MALWARE PRODUCT CAN CAUSE THIS SAME ISSUE. IT SHOULD BE REPEATED FOR ALL SECURITY PRODUCTS RUNNING ON YOUR COMPUTER

THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE FAR MORE THAT GEX INTERFACE FAILURES, IT COULD EFFECT FSX/P3D ITSELF AND OTHER ADDONS.

IF YOUR GEX OR GEP3D SHORTCUT AND INTERFACE HAVE BEEN REMOVED PLEASE CHECK THE AV AND MALWARE PRODUCT QUARANTINE  SECTION AND RESTORE GEXInterface.exe or GEP3D_xxx.exe  IF FOUND THERE. YOU CAN MAKE A SHORTCUT FROM IT TO THE DESKTOP TO RECOVER.

ALSO NOTE: THE FILE: GEXConfig.dll or GEP3DConfig.dll COULD BE REMOVED BY THE AV AS WELL AND MUST BE RESTORED

AV PROGRAMS CAN CAUSE THIS ISSUE IF THEY ARE TOO AGGRESSIVE. SHUT DOWN ALL SECURITY PROGRAMS WHEN INSTALLING GEX/GEP3D AND THEN MAKE SURE THE ENTIRE GEX/GEP3D INTERFACE FOLDER IS SET TO 'EXCLUDE' IN THE AV OR MALWARE SCANNER SETTINGS AS SHOWN BELOW BEFORE RUNNING THE INTERFACE FOR THE FIRST TIME:

WINDOWS VISTA/ 7 / 8 / 10

FOR GEX:
C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Flight One Software\GEX <---- this directory and all files in it

FOR GEP3D:
C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Flight1 Aviation Technologies\GEP3D  <---- this directory and all files in it

WINDOWS XP

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\<YOUR USER NAME>\Application Data\Flight One Software\GEX <---- this directory and all files in it

FOR GEP3D:
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\<YOUR USER NAME>\Application Data\Flight1 Aviation Technologies\GEP3D  <---- this directory and all files in it

I WOULD ALSO ADVISE SETTING AN EXCLUSION FOR THE ENTIRE FSX OR PREPAR3D INSTALL DIRECTORY. THAT WILL ENSURE YOUR SCANNERS ARE NOT REDUCING PERFOMANCE OF YOUR SIMULATOR WHILE IN USE.

Simply exclude the GEX/GEP3D directory in the EXCLUSION settings of NOD or any other AV/Malware program as I outlined above.

This issue is because MS and security companies have become overbearing, do not respond to requests to have developer legitimate files removed from their lists and false positive detections have become a norm today.

The user in many circumstances must simply take control. MS and security software companies don't care if users don't know how to find out if a file is really a threat when it is not OR how to properly use their security software without them holding your hand.
