    Posted: October-14-2010 at 10:35pm
Morning,

Bought and installed the EFD1000 into my default FSX Beech King Air using the FSPS and flew the default flight towards Seattle this evening. I also installed the Stec-55 auto-pilot control and FD/AutoPilot selector switch the came with the EFD1000 package.

The unit would not allow altitude changes after the first initial light-level setting. ATC call called for a level change from 9000 to 10000 feet. I clicked the right bottem button to change the mode to ALT and attempted to change the altitude setting while the auto-pilot was active AND also disconnected. No Go. The altitude refused to change in the PFD-neither the PFD or the Stec-55 would allow even v-speed changes so could not reset the altitude no matter what I tried.

This has the appearence of a great add-on so any support would be gratfully received.

73,

Mark

No. Funny as this sounds, I'm trying to figure out what plane to install it to. I'll be doing that tonight and will advise. Being that I'm definatly not an artist of any type, thinking I'm going install it into a 2D panel only model and see how that works out.

Okay, have some stuff here now.

Installed it first in a 2d only panel aircraft and also installed the FD/FD-AP switch and the F1 Stec55. I also had two GPS units from Simflyer as well as the Garmin Transponder. I was able to get pitch and roll to work however, the Aspen refused to follow gpss steering commands-actually the Stec55 wouldn't even go into gpss mode. The FD/FD-AP switch did not work at all nor did the pre-selector. I changed the F1 varients of these to another vender, added a nav-gps switch and got it to work that way though had to set the altitude via the pre-selector (not F1's). Basically, the Aspen functioned like more then an ADI and EHSI with only the heading working.

Second plane, Cessna 414 from PAD (freeware). The only thing I added was the Aspen and lieu of the ADI and EHSI. I did not change anything else on the bird with the exception of changing the default GPS unit to a Bendex 94. The only way to change pitch and roll headings on the Aspen was to do it through the exsisting auto-piot system-same with nav and gpss steering. Trying to turn the dials on the Aspen did nothing for altitude but did alter heading.

Mark,

I don't know if the other avionics you are using are causing conflict with our own. Best thing to do is try using ASPEN by itself in an aircraft to see if the issue replicate.

Sorry for the extreame delay-

I installed the Aspen into a Mike Stone 2d panel only aircraft with it's accompany Stec55 and altitude selector. The panel also contains GPS units from Simflyer but only the GPS units. At This point, it's looking like to use the Aspen, one also needs to stay with the accompanying Stec55 componets. I'll play around with it some more and see how it goes. I rather like this guage as I have gotten into the "glass" panels more and more.
