Can GEX installed along with UTX cause relocation of files such as FSX-SE SCENERY.CFG? Two different times now my UTX manager encountered an Error: Scenery.CFG file not in expected location. This after installing and enabling GEX. Each time I checked option enable for GEX and the second check Enable GEX Ulitimate Terrain.

GEX does not alter any configuration files. It simply installs textures into the simulator. The UTX options in the GEX interface are textures that GEX replaces when UTX is present, that's all.

UTX is a different product and we simply support their offering by updating the small number of textures they supply so the 2 products work better together.

It sounds to me like you may have a corrupt installation of some type from either lack of first installing and then running software interfaces using the 'Run As Administrator' option as is usually required with Windows10 or there may be something wrong with the actual Flightsim install itself, or all of the above.

A little over a week ago my Windows 10 had irreparably crashed because I was in over my skid trying to fix Carenados Premierv1 FMS which wouldn't load data. So I got a fresh new Windows install from the shop. Since then I have made several errors trying to put it all back together. Once I had accidentally installed BOXED UTX. Have steam. So I did a reset keeping my files. But that partial reset ghosted and I ended up doing a clean reset. New to Windows 10. Last Windows was XP.

You have a lot of catch up to do if you are coming from WindowsXP to Windows10. 10 will nanny the heck out of you and the security can also delete or quarantine files from many addons if their directories are not excluded from scanning. Reads to me that is what you are dealing with. It started slowly with Windows7 but has grown into a ridiculous monster with Windows10

I answered your other inquiry here..

Seems you are dealing with the extensive security changes between the OS's

It all started with Carenado's suggested fix of their Premier 1 Nav Data. An editing of my Usser AppbData xml.dll. I botched it. Tried a Keep Files reset. Running late for work and I shut PC down after the reset but without logging back in. Corrupted my boot files and I had to take it to the shop to get Windows reinstalled on my Drive C. The shop saved most of my old windows program directories on Drive D. I will never shut my PC down at the tower again.
