There will not be any scenery library entry for GEX. GEX backs up and then installs new ground textures and autogen layout. There is no scenery layer involved. GEX does not replace city models and buildings of that nature.
Be sure to run the GEX Interface control as administrator: Right click the interface shortcut and select "Run As Administrator" failure to do that can cause the interface to fail in sending the files to FSX as well as the interface control can not write to its control files. Typically one can see the issue above if you restart the GEX interface and the region is no longer showing 'ENABLED IN FSX" after previously enabling it as that means the interface could not write to the system and send files because it does not have admin rights. Past the above, I would need to see an image with location data from about 4-5000ft to be able to see what you see and define if the files installed or not. Sometimes a system is so blurry it can difficult to see changes and a picture would help in knowing if files are installed in the simulator or not. |

Just so you are aware.. GEX does not change airports other than the pads they sit on.
Your image is from inside the aircraft instead of outside and not showing the terrain very well. From what I can see it does appear GEX textures are installed but it is difficult to pinpoint with such a restricted view shot. If you can move past the airport over to where the terrain at the base of the hills is located and take an outside shot at that altitude I should be able to ID for sure the tiles are installed but they appear to be from the first shot. Now after taking that shot save the flight in the sim right there, close the sim and go back to the GEX interface and select to DISABLE Ground Environment X Asia and South America. When complete close the interface and start the simulator. Select your saved/paused flight from where you took the last image with GEX enabled, and take another image in the exact same spot. Post that as well. You should clearly see a difference between those two images.

Yes but those shots are over water.. GEX is not water and I can not make any assessment about terrain from that distance
I would also ask the flight level be somewhat higher, around the 4000ft mark Lets try it this way.. I will take a shot south of Hong Kong International and post the exact location data in the image (LON LAT MAG ALT) you duplicate that location and take an image. That should help me see what you do clearly. I will post the shot in a few minutes

Making sure you right clicked the GEX Interface and select "Run as Administrator" select Ground Environment Asia and South America and then click the ENABLE button at the bottom of the interface. When the operation completes the Interface should say next to GEX Asia and South America: ENABLED IN FSX
If that is correct, close the interface and open the sim. Go to Hong Kong International and try to duplicate as close as possible the images I show below at the location specified... Image 1 has the location data in the top corner which is just south of Hong Kong International. Image 2 is the overhead of the area ![]() ![]() What does yours look like in this location? Can you grab similar images like the above? |

GEX is indeed installed. Those are not the default FSX ground textures.
Those are the same ground textures my images show which is GEX.

If you were expecting large changes as in land use with texture placement or specific details, that is not what a texture replacement does.
It is well known that the simulator requires a detailed landclass file to place textures in a better representation of real world. Asia is very lacking in that with any version of flight simulator. The landclass Scenery Tech Asia or Xclass Asia can assist with that. There is also a freeware Japan landclass that also includes road details that was release some years ago... https://www.simforums.com/forums/japan-landclass-gex-asa-gep3d-updated-p3dv4_topic44729.html In the link above you can see how GEX or P3D works with the scenery/landclass control files that are outlined in that thread for Japan. Unfortunately Asia is very poorly represented in flight simulator (FSX or P3D) with control files such as landclass and scenery other than individual airports. The GEX textures are installed on your system but they are not scenery or specific location scenery. They replace the poorly designed default FSX/P3D ground graphics. |
