when download and it starts to load ,bmp's tec. it stops and ask me to insert disc 2. This is a direct download using Flight1 agent. This makes no sence to me. I am putting on the C:\ drive, as administrator but can't figure out why it will not download correctly. Why is it asking for a second disc? Getting very frustrated. Have spent a full day and half another and no luck. This might seem like an easy way to get downloads but it isn't and getting support is even more frustrating. Automation doesn't always work out. Pete Tisdall P.S. if this does not work out, how do I get a refund. thank you

There have been no reports of such an issue. The F1 Agent tool is very efficient and much easier than past methods. Are you not aware or familiar with zip files? When the download completes a window pops up that displays the the product installer, however it is in ZIP format and you must unzip that file and THEN launch the product installer EXE. It works fine but you may not understand how zip files work. It's easy. When the window pops up with the files displayed and you click the EXE it should ask you to EXTRACT ALL.. do not RUN, select EXTRACT ALL and then show files when the extraction is complete. Another option to EXTRACT is to go to the top menu of the box that pops up and select the EXTRACT ALL option on the top menu.. same process. Once extracted the next box that pops up will show the extracted installer files and then simply click the EXE and run as admin. Zip is a common method of delivery for such large files for decades since it compresses and makes the download size smaller, but the file must be decompressed on your end once received and then run the product EXE installer.. it works fine. If you do not decompress the zip first, the installer can not locate the 2nd data file which is why it asks for disk 2. Please try it again and if you have any questions post back.

Hi: thanks for the quick reply. Yes I am used to zip files. Been doing this for over 40 years. when I unzip I have 2 files and 1 is .exe. I put the 2 files in a new folder. when I run the .exe it starts install process as I answer the questions for install, then it starts to load to the destination folder when it is almost 2/3 complete it ask me for disc 2 ? . This is my issue I don't have discs, this is an instant download. I have had multiple downloads with Flight1 and not once did I have a download ask me for a disc.I have always been able to get my Software downloads. I will try again. I get the download from Flight1 agent, which you are correct is a zip file. Once I have opened the zip file, I copy contents to a new folder and run the .exe file from there. I don't see extract all, however I will try again and will detail my every move paying strict attention for an extract all button. Thanks for your prompt reply and will let you know whether I get the download or not. Thanks again Pete P.S. ok followed all instructions and here is what I get GEX-Na-2.2.2 date 2 files 786479Kb GEX-Na-2.2 date application 1,536,060Kb 7z GEX-NA-2.2 date zip file ,2,322,480Kb GEX-NA-2.2.zip date CFG file 1Kb error can't find uninstall. That's all. So you tell me what's wrong.

I ran the entire download and install scenario here.
Once the download was complete I select to extract the files then simply ran the EXE with both files decompressed to a separate directory. Installation went fine. If I try to run the EXE within a zip folder or zip program it will not find the 2nd file and ask for disk 2. I do not use 7zip except for special extractions because it can cause issues with files under certain circumstances if not used correctly which may be the problem here. I just let the built in Windows zip file system decompress the zip. Once the download is complete simply select to extract the files first using the right click menu in the directory to bypass 7zip and from there you can move them around as long as they are both in the same extracted directory. The EXE and data file must be together and extracted together first. I saw no issues on this end whatsoever but it does look like something has added file size to the extracted EXE in your report. Please see below. Also make very sure any AV scanner is disabled before extraction. Windows defender and other such security scanners can damage large extractions during the process. There should be no file named: 7z GEX-NA-2.2 that could be because 7z has hard control of zip files. Your extracted files from the zip should appear in a directory together as such: This is directory where the downloaded zip file is and where the system unzipped the contents shown above: Try right clicking the zip file itself in Windows 10 and not use 7zip then select from the Windows menu: EXTRACT ALL it should produce what I show above This also all assumes the download itself is not somehow corrupt.

Thanks for the run down. I will try the windows opener. Very good response thank you so much. should be able to get it from your last post, Have a good day , stay safe. Ok using the flight1 agent, I hit download. then it asks to open/run. I hit that and get the 2 files just as you have showen. if I run the exe file I get an error can't find uninstall. I can not open the file that has 2 files in it. I have completely removed 7-zip from this computer. used uninstaller and then regedit to delet any remnants. Tried again got same procedure and still can't open the 2 files. is there some way you can send me the two files and the exe application. I have never had an issue befor but there is something wrong either on my side or your. I have checked this computer and I see no issues but for some reason I can't get this download. Hope you can help me solve this. would really like to get this Software. thanks again for a through explanation. Pete

Pete.. If I read this right above you are not understanding how windows works with zip files.. Zip files can look like regular folders in Windows when they are open for viewing but they are not regular folders, they are still compressed files in that window that pops up and is shown after clicking the RUN/OPEN option in the F1 tool.. I know that can be visually confusing if you are not used to working with zips in Windows. The box that opens after the download is the contents of a zip file. They are NOT the contents of a decompressed folder. They must then be decompressed before running the EXE You must unzip those contents first.. you can not simply click the EXE file from the box that automatically opens from the F1 Tool. Try this.. 1. Go to the F1 tool again and click the RUN/OPEN button When the box opens DO NOT click on any of the files. Instead: 2. Place the mouse anywhere in the box just below the file names shown (not on the files, in the white area below), right click. You should see a option that says; EXTRACT ALL select that. NOTE: If for some reason you do not see the right click/extract all menu option you can go to the top menu of that box there should be a COMPRESS FOLDER TOOLS tab option up there and a button when is selected that says; Extract All An example is shown below.. this is the Windows ZIP BOX that pops up when you click the RUN/OPEN button in the F1 Tool... ![]() 3. Once Extract All is selected another box will appear asking the path/folder to extract and there will also be an option that says; Show Extracted Files When Complete make sure that is CHECKED An example of that box from my system is shown below. You do not have to change the location or the path unless you wish to. I would leave it as it is so there is no confusion as to the location and just click the EXTRACT BUTTON 4. When that extraction completes, a NEW FOLDER box will open and show you the 2 extracted files like I show here below. Right click the EXE you see in THAT BOX and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR It will install fine and without any request for the 2nd disk. |

Not sure what you mean. You said you were getting a Insert Disk 2 Error. That is installation, not the GUI interface control to enable GEX in FSX.
These instructions are for installation of GEX into Windows itself, not the GEX interface control after GEX is installed into Windows in order to enable the product in FSX itself.
During the actual GEX region product installation a shortcut to the interface control should be placed on the desktop. If you do not find it there, then look in the Windows programs list menu for Flight One Software/GEX Interface shortcut. Right click that and run as administrator. The interface will run through it's backup and initial checks then allow you to enable the product in your simulator. Once enabled in the interface control, the interface does not need to run again unless you wish to add regions, have added another product (not ours) called UTX that we provide upgrades for, or, wish to disable and revert back to the default textures for FSX. |

Sorry to mis-lead you. I did get at the last try to get it to download files. Not all I think. it did not give me the gui interface so I assume I still did something wrong. It is now uninstalled completely and now I will follow your last instructions. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

I give up. I get the download after serching the computer to find where it puts it, as it does not go where even it says it will. then I get to the gui interface and select it with admin rights click it on and I get a message can't find C:\GEX_Regions_backup. in desperation I create one. Now it tells me to disable uac and windows defender and firewall. all ready disabled. I checked. this is just not going to work for me. What do I have to do to get a REFUND.

No one has reported any of these issues. I assure you it is not on this side.
Sorry you can't get it working. Not sure what is wrong at this point other than your system may not be allowing proper file/folder read/writes. Refunds are handled through Flight1 and they will issue it directly. Open a ticket with Flight1 and request a refund. http://www.flight1.com/ticket.asp Please reference this thread and they will issue a refund. |

Ok great!
Awesome!
![]() I can't personally issue refunds and I have nothing to do with the design of the delivery/license system. Flight1 handles all that. We just make the product itself and try and help folks with as much as we can technically if needed. |

Glad I could help
![]() Perhaps the exclusion issue in security software was biting on your end. It is a well known issue for many years and we cover here in the forum as well as in the GEX HELP manual. Many Flightsim addons require exclusions in the security software of the computer. It is also best to exclude the entire Flight Simulator install directory simply because it is a very resource intense application and needs all the CPU and memory cycles it can get to run well/better. Excluding the directory/files from being scanned while the sim is in use highly benefits the performance of the application and the user experience. |
