The 'Open Street' and 'Osi Street' map types have been removed from all OpusFSI LWA and Wx Maps. The 'Open Street' map server no longer allows free access, hence returns access forbidden. The 'Osi Street' map server no longer exists.

Corrected a problem affecting view mode changes via the OpusPDK Interface. Made preperations to add Spot, Locked Spot, FlyBy, Top-Down, and Nearest Tower camera types. The new types limited to setting the initial or preferred zoom level only as no eye-point control is supported in the sim.

Included the new 64-bit FSITRACKIR.EXE control program. This program no longer uses SimConnect but relies exclusively on the new high speed 64-bit OpusPDK Interface.

Hence, the OpusPDK Interface must be activated to use this new TrackIR program. If the OpusPDK Interface is not active then the 32-bit SimConnect FSITRACKIR control program will be activated instead.

GRIB data mapping increased in resolution to match the OpusFSI weather map resolution and prepare for further upper winds smoothing and stabilisation.

Included support for using the Active Sky turbulence and in-cloud data via the FSUIPC5 interface when the OpusFSI Live Weather Engine is disabled.

For this beta we recommend disabling Dynamic Wind Control (DWC) in the OpusFSI Weather Smoothing dialog. This feature may not be necessary in P3Dv4.5. Note, P3D will usually adjust its ambient wind speed and direction based both on its local targets and in consideration of the ambient conditions up ahead.

OpusFSI Beta Version 6.00.16 is now available for download on our website.

Download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

The currently available release and beta versions are now displayed in green text each time the OpusFSI Spy window is opened. This information can be used to check if new release or beta versions are available for download.

The names of all camera views selected via key sequences or joystick buttons are now displayed as General (white) messages within the Spy window as 'Camera : Assigned Camera Name'. For example,

GEN  Camera : Legacy - Right Hand Seat
SIM  Set View PDK : Virtual Cockpit, Type 0
SIM  Event: Joystick 1 Button 12 (Throttle - HOTAS Warthog)

SimConnect functions are now used to inject weather themes and METARs.

The OpusPDK Interface will now force the Virtual Cockpit view on display prior to its initialisation. The VC view must be displayed on startup to allow proper initialisation of the PDK. The LM PDK (and OpusPDK Interface) will not be able to initialise or function without the initial VC view on display.

The OpusPDK Interface now prevents multiple PDK requests being submitted simultaneously.

The OpusPDK Interface will now self check its operation by reading the current view mode and reporting the view mode in the Spy window as either,

SIM  Link established with OpusPDK (6.00.16)
SIM  OpusPDK View Mode = Virtual Cockpit
 SIM  OpusPDK Library Version Validated

or (on re-opening Spy),

SIM  Connected to OpusPDK Interface (6.00.16)
SIM  OpusPDK View Mode = Virtual Cockpit

If for any reason the OpusPDK Interface fails to respond then the following message sequences are displayed,

SIM  Link established with OpusPDK (6.00.16)
SIM  Unable To Verify OpusPDK Operation
 SIM  OpusPDK Library Version Validated

or (on re-opening Spy),

SIM  Connected to OpusPDK Interface (6.00.16)
SIM  Unable To Verify OpusPDK Operation

Corrected a problem with ButtKicker Control subsequent to a recent Windows 10 update from Microsoft which has changed the audio header format. The problem only affects the new 64-bit OpusFSI v6 software. Former 32-bit software (v4 and v5) is not affected by the update.

Added a Selective Update mode to the OpusFSI Weather Engine. This mode is enabled within the Weather Smoothing and Stabilisation dialog and requires the OpusPDK Interface to be active (activated using the PDKSETUP.EXE set up program once after installation of OpusFSI v6).

Selective Update mode uses the OpusPDK Interface to inject the generated, and detailed, OpusFSI Dynamic Weather Theme data into the Prepar3D simulator. Before flight, or when either sat on the ground or after issuing a Full Weather Update, the weather engine will prepare the 'in sim' weather in a number of stages. This preparation will be accompanied by several messages appearing in a fixed banner at the top of the sim display. The following weather update messages may be displayed,

OpusFSI Weather - Selective Update Mode, <action in progress>

Where <action in progress> is one of the following,

Preparing Weather Data and Met Stations
Initialising the Local Weather
Initialising the Regional Weather

As soon as the weather has been prepared and the regional weather injected the banner will be removed and all further weather updating will be performed steadily in the background.

Cloud Smoothing and Visibility Smoothing are automatically disabled in Selective Update mode as they are both unnecessary. I also recommend at the moment you disable the Dynamic Wind Control as this may not be functional in the latest P3D v4.5 anyway. I leave it for people to experiment with enabling / disabling the Wind Stabilisation option as I'm unsure whether the latest P3D v4.5 needs this extra measure (first introduced to minimise wind shifts within the FSX and P3D sim code).

I would also recommend you set the Enable Max Upper Visibility Limit option in the Weather Preferences dialog and set the Max Visibility to 240km or even as low as 128km. I leave it for users to experiment with this setting. If the option is disabled then the weather engine will unrealistically inject unlimited visibility at medium to high altitudes. If the option is enabled then the upper visibility will be restricted as it mostly is in the real world.

N.B.

Selective Update mode cannot be used on systems using one or more OpusFSI Client systems. Weather synchronisation of client systems in Selective Update mode has NOT been implemented yet. It will be implemented after the new mode has been tested and deemed usable.

Selective Update mode cannot be used with Weather Relocation. This feature or mode of operation has not been implemented yet but may be added in the near future.

Release version.

Spy window warning 'Unable to Verify OpusPDK Operation' has been renamed to read 'OpusPDK Unable To Read View Mode'. This message is typically displayed when the Spy window is opened before the simulator has had time to fully initialise, hence the OpusPDK request fails. All PDK Spy messages are now painted in the same light sea green colour as FSUIPC messages.

Corrected a problem shutting down the FSUIPC link after detecting the sim has been shut down.

Modified the P3DSERVER and OpusPDK initialisation and start up procedures.

Under normal circumstances, the software monitors the health of the OpusPDK Interface all the way through to the P3D simulator response, checking the link every 4 seconds. All changes in PDK status will be reported via the OpusFSI Spy window as either 'OpusPDK Not Responding At The Moment' or 'OpusPDK Now Responding OK'.

The PDKSETUP.EXE utility program will now accept optional TEST and REMOVE program arguments. The program arguments can be appended in any order and are not case sensitive. The TEST argument will prevent the simulator's DLL.XML file being created or modified in any way. The REMOVE argument will remove rather than add the OpusPDK launch statements.
Corrected a problem with Non-OpusPDK (SimConnect) view mode selection.

Selective Update weather mode can now be used with networked client systems.

N.B.

Selective Updates with Client Systems Warning

Due to several omissions and errors within the Lockheed Martin weather related SimConnect and PDK functions it is not possible for OpusFSI to correctly reset and manage certain weather data. As a result, if you have performed any selective weather updates and you shutdown any Prepar3D simulator then it is imperative that you shutdown all Prepar3D simulators along with all P3DSERVER and P3DCLIENT programs. In other words, after any selective weather updates, shutting down any Prepar3D simulator will require a full system restart.
