Sorry if this has been answered already, but its hard ploughing through all the posts.  No doubt even harder having to answer them all;-)

Currently using OpusFSIv4 with P3D

Having bought P3Dv4, I'm obviously going to get OpusFSIv5 but....

Does it currently 'find' addon aircraft that are installed in the 'correct' P3D Addons folder, in order to setup camera views for them?

Thanks

Should do as there's no real difference with previous P3D sims. If not ... You can also specify additional aircraft folders manually to OpusFSI v5.

Hi Stephen
Hope you guys are surviving this heat!

Just downloaded and installed OpusFSIv5 demo and tried it, but the only aircraft in the Opus drop down menu, are those in the root/SimObjects folder.

Its not listing any of the addon aircraft I have in the P3Dv4 Addons Folder:-(

I'm also getting this at startup, showing dll errors....

Hi,

Just managing, could do with some cooling rain. Ignore the server log file message as it's just warning you that you don't have the necessary licences for v5, so you can just close it and run in demo mode.

I will double check the Aircraft list but it could simply be that the software cannot access the P3Dv4 files or addon folders. Check the generated P3D SimObjects log file to see what folders were checked and if any access errors reported.

I will double check tomorrow on my newly installed P3Dv4 system just in case a fix is needed.

When you open the OpusFSI Cameras management dialog for the first time with P3D OpusFSI will create a new SimObjects_P3D.log file in your OpusFSI_v5 folder. This file will list all Airplane and Rotorcraft folders examined by Live Camera, for example...

Did you fix it in 5.10.4
simobject log still shows only listing root folder.

Yes. Check your simobjects.cfg file in the sims Program Data to make sure your add on is actually listed in there. If it's not then you will have to add it either there or in our OpusFSI P3D SimObjects file as per the Live Camera guide.

OpusFSI will only search add on paths that are Lin the sims standard SimObjects folder, included within the sims Program Data SimObjects cfg file, or added manually to our own P3D SimObjects file.

Of course OpusFSI will need access to the files so you must share the drive with Everyone etc..

Oh dear....  I can see this new addon system is going to be headache for me;-)  Looking at the simobjects.cfg I see the aircraft I added by using the xml method (with the Lorbi-SI tool), are NOT in that file.  I thought the point of this new method was everything was done correctly:-(

You can either add it there yourself or add it to our own P3D SimObjects file in your \OpuFSI_v5 folder. I would most likely add it to the sims own SimObjects.cfg in Program Data as then it will be registered correctly and identified by all addons, not just OpusFSI.

Bah humbug!  After applying the new P3Dv4 Hotfix (Client only), its reset the simobjects.cfg back to default:-(  Maybe it would be better after all to your OpusFSI P3D SimObjects file....
All my changes gone

That's just LM overwriting their own SimObjects.cfg file. You're probably better putting the add on path in our file. Create one from our template and add your add on path then it will be preserved.

See..

http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/opusfsi_v5_getting_started2.htm#SimObject%20Path%20Additions

SimObject Path Additions

The OpusFSI_SimObjects_Template.txt file can be used to define a list of SimObject paths not currently identified by OpusFSI, normally addon aircraft that have been installed elsewhere and not defined anywhere that OpusFSI checks.

Copy and rename the supplied OpusFSI_SimObjects_Template.txt file. Rename the file as indicated below. OpusFSI will check and process the following sim typed files for the additional path specifications,

OpusFSI_SimObjects_FSX.txt
OpusFSI_SimObjects_FSXSE.txt
OpusFSI_SimObjects_P3D.txt

For backwards compatibility, the file OpusFSI_SimObjects.txt is also checked for 'FSX Steam' sim types.

N.B.
Prepar3D systems should already include a 'simobjects.cfg' file within their common application data (c:\ProgramData) folder. These files are also checked and decoded by OpusFSI so try not to duplicated additional simobject paths in the above text file if used. Your specified SimObjects folders should each contain the same Airplanes or Rotorcraft sub-folders as the standard SimObjects folder within the sim. The SERVER and CLIENT programs will accept SimObject Addon paths that end in specific sub-folder names '\Airplanes' or '\Rotorcraft' (with or without a trailing backslash). Previously the standard '\SimObjects' root folder was assumed and the sub-folder names '\Airplanes' or '\Rotorcraft' were appended prior to looking for the additional (addon) SimObjects.

Don't forget to check that any addon folders are shared with adequate sharing and security permissions.

Each path must be entered on a separate line in the form,

    Path = <full_path_specification>

For example,

    Path = E:\3rd Party\Company_XYZ\SimObjects

SERVER and CLIENT create a log file named SimObjects_FSX.log, SimObjects_FSXSE.log, or SimObjects_P3D.log, depending on the sim type. This log file lists all SimObject Airplane and Rotorcraft paths that are checked along with any errors encountered during the process. The log file helps determine the reason why any aircraft/rotorcraft are not detected by the SERVER program.

Many thanks Stephen.  That's now what I've done and it works well.

Love the software, love the documentation, but ESPECIALLY love and appreciate your amazing support.  Of all my addons, I don't think any devs respond the way you two do.  Sorry if that sounds patronising. Its REALLY not meant. Its just that I'm often 1st on bus to complain when things aren't right, so it seems only fair to that it goes both ways.

Thanks to you both!
