Hi All, The latest Trainers published on the Garmin web site are not compatible with our 430/530XP. Garmin has been kind to update its Garmin Trainer with a new database cycle September 2005. After checking, we confirm they do work with the Reality XP software. The only change in fact is the database. For complete Garmin Trainer Installations: You can download complete approved trainer installers in a packaged .zip format from these two links (right click the links and select Save Target As... to download to a folder on your hard drive): 430XP Trainer (database Sep05) 530XP Trainer (database Sep05) After unzipping the archives downloaded from the links above, you can manually unzip the archives and run the extracted setup.exe program in order to proceed with the installation. For database updates If you want to update without loosing your actual settings in your Garmins (flight plans, etc…):
The udpate is good to go with the Reality XP 430XP and 530XP! Please note that the 430/530 trainers suggested when installing the Flight Line 430XP/530XP and/or the A36/B58 install a database cycle 2002 matching the FS2004 database. However, many new items in this September 2005 could not be found in the default FS2004, like a new runway or navaid frequency. So, if you want the very latest database and you are not concerned about the discontinuity between the two databases then the update is for you...but if you want to continue flying where the two databases are mostly in sync then you might want to consider staying with the older nav database. Jean-Luc PS: a previous discussion about database udpates can be found here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=12823&am p;am p;am p;PN=1

Have you noticed the Trainer has again been updated, now it comes with just one Worldwide database, and its from feb 2006. Has anyone tried if the new trainer works with the RXP gauge? (Keep backups of your old of course!)

Hi Tim, I'm not from RXP but the update to which you refer does NOT work and is partially the reason why the original post above by Jean-Luc was updated to include the appropriate database from SEP 2005. |

Gentlemen, Does Reality plans to include the new TAWS and Terrain functionality of the new Garmin 500 series simulator to the FS GNS 530 Gauge? I guess many of us would be very supportive! Gabor < defer>mainFuncFN() |

I lost all the information of my hard drive and had to make new downloads of GNS430 and 530 and DreamFleet Baron58. They don't install 430/530XP Trainers and when installing DreamFleet Baron58 the instalation program gives error and doesn't completed the instalation of the Trainer. Then, when running FS9 I am informed that the 430/530XP Trainers are not instaled. I asked for support to RealityXP and I was recomended to consult the forum. I can't find any answer to my problem. Anyone can give some help? Jose Mansilha |

At first I was confused because Reality XP linked me to this thread via email after explaining the exact same error. The original post above makes it sound like the links are to databases only, not the full trainer installers. Only after I attempted the installs did I realize they are alternate trainers. The original poser may want to change the post above so that folks searching have an easier time recognizing that the above files install full trainers and not just an AIRAC update, and that they are indeed the fix for the "access denied" error. |

Can somebody sticky this, please. This topic solves a number of common issues with the trainer (most noteably for my part, the free extractor error issue that has been covered ad nauseam).

I downloaded 430XP, but the extractor setup.exe program doesn't do anything when I follow the instructions above! |

Spec!... you just need the trainers. You are not upodating anything so the special instructions dont apply. Get the zip, unzip it to a temp dir and run setup.exe. |

Is there a simple zip file with all the files I need, where I can simply create a new folder on my c: drive with the simple name GARMIN, and just drop in all the zip files that goes in there to run this thing? I don't know, I try following the instructions, but I think something is wrong with the executions file, that doesn't run on my system for some reason. |

http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=19300&KW=9547 Read that thread. No, there is no trainer package that you speak of that I know.

Yes, I've read that thread, but the final result was that for some strange reason after uninstalling and reinstalling three times, it began to work. I've tried removing and intalling about 7-8 times already, and nothing happens. Now I'm finding this strange. |

...You and me, both. DEP maybe? Look up data execution prevention in windows help. So, you cant run the trainer at all from desk top? You are unpacking ALL the files, right? I hate to ask the obvius "duh!" type questoins.... but then maybe we get lucky and a "duh!" solution comes up... happens that way more often than I think we all realize.

When I down loaded the Archer, I installed all the patches and XP gauges for it. I went into the XP folder created by this Archer, went into the common folder and try to launch that little green box. It looked like it's installing something, but then nothing happens. I also try downloading the 430XP Trainer file above. I try both ways to install it on my c: drive, the automatic directory and the shorter c:\GNS430 version, and neither seems to work. It still wont launch by itself or in FS9. I'm stumped.

Dragonweb,
In a word - no. Currently 2005 is as recent as you can go with compatible Garmin Trainers. Alastair |

Ask Garmin, not RXP. They controil the DB, RXP just uses what they have provided. there is currently no known way to edit the DB. I look at it this way. FS is a snapshot in time, the origional DB is a snapshot in time as well, from about the same time period. |

I really like the Garmin update... many more approaches/departures in it.
No issues (yet) regarding old/new databases. |

Please, can you correct/reactivate the link to the legacy trainers? It is broken since some days (may be since relaunch of RXP web site)
Thanks and regards Nils |

Hi guys,
Just an update to say that the revised RealityXP site now includes the necessary downloads for all the "legacy" GNS products and Trainers: http://www.reality-xp.com/support/knowledgebase/gns-fs9.html Cheers, Alastair |

Hi,
The Support Site has been reorganised recently. The Trainers and non-WAAS GNS products are available here, under: I can't find the non-WAAS GNS 430/530 ecommerce installer in order to reinstall my product? http://www.reality-xp.com/support/knowledgebase/gns-fs9.html If you can't access the page directly, try the homepage: http://www.reality-xp.com/support/knowledgebase/releasenotes.html and select GNS (16 bit) for FS9 Alastair |

Just wondering if there is a chance that Garmin will update the data in their trainers?

Hi Mikey,
This is a question for Garmin ! As the Trainers are, primarily, for familiarisation training on the GNS units a fully up-to-date database clearly isn't a priority, and there have only been 2-3 updates in the last few years, two versions for the (non-WAAS) GNS430 / GNS530 and, currently, a dual-unit replacement single Trainer for the WAAS units. Thus my guess is that Garmin will update the Trainers but not any time soon. Alastair |

I doubt they would update the 16bit classic trainers.
