    Posted: July-03-2017 at 9:12pm
Very recently, Norton AV deleted my GEX Interface icon on the desktop and the associated exe files for GEX-NA 2.1 and GEX-EU. I downloaded and reinstalled GEX NA and EU and the icon was restored, but Norton identified one file as dangerous, so I flagged it for Norton to ignore during its scan. Today, the icon and exe files are gone again. Any ideas of how to fix this? Thanks.

The issue is with the AV itself reading a false positive and has been going on for years with many different Flightsim addons.

Usually the files deleted are located in the quarantine system of the AV and can be restored without reinstall of the product.

You must make sure the AV scanner is set to EXCLUDE the GEX interface directory and all files in it as was explained/outlined in this sticky post:    http://www.simforums.com/forums/av-settings-delete-the-gex-and-gep3d-interface_topic49654.html

Thanks for your help, Nick...very useful. Turns out this caused another problem that seemed to have no relationship to GEX. When I fixed GEX following your advice, the other problem went away too. It took your instructions along with AVSIM's FSX basic configuration guide and their Crash To Desktop (CTD) Guide to get everything back right again. Whew! Clap
