I have received a few emails concerning the main panel window "disappearing" when toggling views between the overhead to the main panel.  This will occur when one toggles views with the keypad only when viewing the overhead.  If one closes the overhead with the window close icon in the upper right corner of the overhead first, you will not lose panel view.  If one should lose the panel views, simply recall the main panel by pressing “shift + 1” then you can go back to the overhead view.  This is normal due to the “view forward up” configuration of the overhead panel view.  It’s a bit of a compromise, but does allow the user to be able to “look” outside the upper portions of the windows when performing overhead procedures.  One can avoid this by simply closing the overhead with the close icon first.

I hope this clarifies the situation better.

UPDATE: Don't forget, you can also open the overhead temporarily with your hat switch by pressing upwards to view the overhead panel.

It is if you do that. Please read carefully up above and you'll see that you can close the overhead by clicking on the "close window" icon in the upper right corner of the overhead. It's a small box with an "X" in it. Clicking that will restore the main panel view.
