Hello J.P

Thank you for this amazing software and your quick and helpful response to it's users. I've read on another post where a few challenges are proposed, and since I know most of us have that awesome Kai Tak scenery, today I'll post here the relevant information to make the airport "alive" in the ALL PMDG aircraft FMC. All that would be required of you J.P is to allow FSiPanel to offer the "STAR" option for Kai Tak and we'll be able to load it and fly that IGS Rwy 13...in the PMDG 777, MD-11, 747 or 737 for that matter.

To all interested persons, please follow these instructions carefully:

1) Locate your PMDG "SIDSTARS" folder within FSX, next copy any of the files in that folder and move it to a folder so you can "work" on it. Once that is done...copy and paste the following information on that file, be sure to overwrite any previous information and rename that file as VHHX...this will give you all the gate assignments, SIDS, STARS etc.

2) Next..go to your PMDG "Navdata" folder and open "wpnavapt" using notepad (note, if asked to use the selected program to always open this file you can say no) and add the following information...please note, that when the file "wpnavapt" is open you can click on "view".."find next" and type in VHHH in the open window "Find Next" again. The information is the added "BELOW" the entries for VHHH and should look something like this

The BOLD text above is what you would have added, save that file and move on Big smile

3) Open the file named "wpnavaid"
IGS LLZ/DME RWY 13      KL   ILSD 22.003299 114.104167111.90T

IGS RWY 13              GP   NDB  22.326833 114.092500331.00N

This information should be added at the end of this file as it does not matter where it is and it will work just fine...again save this file with the changes and press on.

4) Lastly Open the file "airports.dat", and using the method outlined in step "2" locate "VHHH 22.308889 113.914722" and add the following information below it "VHHX 22.316959 114.202621" (remember to remove the ") Wink

With the exception of the VHHX file that you created in the SIDSTARS folder all other changes will have to be made manually whenever you update your PMDG Database using Navigraph or any other source as this info is NOT included and will the be absent as AIRAC Cycles change...after a few times at it you'll be doing that modification in seconds...Like me Clap

That is it ...easy and simple....VHHX will now be in the FMS for Arrivals and Departures, and we can all fly it quickly over and over again.

My challenge to you J.P is to provide us with the "STAR" in FSiPanel and perhaps you can post your video on Youtube as well...I've provided everything else. Thumbs Up

Thanks again for all your excellent work and may you continue to have good flights.

Hi,

I've created a little tool that will do all the modifications written above automatically.

It will add VHHX to PMDG folders and add the STARs to FSiPanel.

Please note that this tool will not have any support or with very low priority.

Please backup your folders before using, a backup is automatically created.

Download the tool, run it and click ADD Kai Tak to start the proces.

Please let me know if you were able to fly approaches there!
You need a scenery for the ILS to be in the AIR.

Download tool

Safe landings,

J-P you did an outstanding job once again...thank you. I am able to fly approaches at Kai Tak quite easily time and time again. The installer was simple and easy to use, so I'll open up a challenge soon.

After basically watching the RNAV approach twice, I spent all day studying the approach chart and working on nailing that approach by the numbers using only the VOR, NDB and ILS...all hand flown.

So again, thanks to this great addition (of the VHHX STAR) to your already amazing software, one of aviations most infamous approaches can now be replicated with ease.

Clear skies Captain and best regards.

Dale

Could you please add the STARS for VHHX for the iFly 737 also?

Hi, do you have the installer for iFly 737NG for the VHHX airport. I was able to enter data to FSX 737NG navdata folder. But I need files for SIDS/STARS folders in order to complete.
