Hi guys,

I just bought the GTN pack but the database is so out of date that it makes the GTN pretty counter-intuitive to use. I saw a video of a guy flying the 1709 (current at the time of recording).

How can I update the airac/database?

Cheers,
Matheson

Either find a friend who owns a real unit who will give you an expired database, or buy from Garmin (expensive).

Well, good to hear that Garmin does not object to their data being handed around for flightsim purposes!

Edit: I actually meant "expired navdata" as can be seen below..

He told me as long as its month old data he can get it for me. Like he can't give me 1802 data until next month. Also I don't ask many questions, he just tosses me a thumb drive every once in a while and says "oh yeah, new navdata for you" :P

Fair enough... I have long argued that "expired navdata" is OK to share, since it has no commercial use or value, much like expired paper charts.

Seriously, I am happy to have this confirmed by a Garmin employee.
