using NickN's water theme: Depths Of Tropics 2.  I am completely blown away how GEX,FEX, and all the other add ons are working together here! Thanks.

From Key West, Florida, USA:

I can see the sand ripples under the water.  How cool is that?!

Since I was in KeyWest, I had to show a "top down" viewWink

Thanks again NickN!Big%20smile

Glad you are enjoying it

Its just a theme I edited from FEX and not my 'water'. Its actually a very mild edit of a default theme which just needed a little help

I like it because it allows both tropics and other areas to display some very nice dynamic changes and the color of deep water tends to look very natural in the ocean and inland like around Puget Sound, etc

The only thing I really would like to change is how water responds to the ENV files. In FS9 I had completely reworked the ENV's so cloud cover changed not only the brightness but the tint of water as well. If I ever get some spare time I will probably look at how the FSX ENV's work and make similar changes so shadowing and color is much more dynamic with weather changes.

Here are a few around Puget Sound..

I have a residence on Bainbridge Island across the bay from Seattle so this area was important to get right

I usually fly in heavy urban with LOWx2 water but I do push that slider up in the bush to MED or somtimes HIGH. The Default Beaver is probably one of the most realistic planes around for VC and flight dynamics.. I like to get lost in the Beaver and mountain stream hop but I have not had a lot of time to do that lately.

Here's a quick link to some screens from the upcoming Super High Definition FEX (from Chris at FEX) and no, it's not a joke...

That's looks quite close to your photoshop photo Nick don't you think? :)

Sorry…

FS11 will not be worked on until after Trains2 is released. There is no date out there on expected release dates however I would think from what I have read we can expect it sometime around late 2011 so FSX is here to stay for a while.

Until Phil Taylor releases info about FS11 and until such time as they actually start production, what ever you see is more than likely a fake.

It’s my understanding Aces has gone through some upgrades… a move to another facility, larger staff and of course expansion into developing the core system which ESPv1, v2 and v3 will be based. More about ESP can be read here:

 http://www.microsoft.com/esp/

And Beatle (Tim from the team) posted in this thread about ESP and Core

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=120&topic_id=35859&mode=full

There is good info in that thread about what is going on.

a little sharp edged for my taste but I so like the lighting on them

I kind of prefer the softer looking clouds over the ones that resemble a perfect painting but hey.. I can't really tell how they play until I get them installed in a set.

Looking good though!

The "official" word is TS2 is in 2009. Everyone knows what time of year entertainment products get released right?

So that should make it obvious the earliest FS11 could be. As far as if it will be then, or later as Nick has indicated - too early to tell.

What is clear is that 3DPs have plenty of runway for FSX add-ons, at a minimum.

I blogged about the studio organization a while back, here

Thanks Phil!

The server was slow this morning when I tried to search your blog for that one and I gave up.

Seems like when ever you post something new it takes a while for all the traffic to clear. ..
