How about a modern G1000 equipped 172, 182, or 206?

Hi guys,
Any chance for more preview pictures on the 182T? By the way, is it a turbo or a normally aspirated version? Best regards, Tero |

Niiice! Looks like the 2010 paint scheme and. I hope it has the GFC700 autopilot and it probably does since most of the G1000 coding is, I assume, usable from the Mustang.
Maybe a turbo version also? ;) Thanks Jim! Regards, Tero

Jim, how do you think this will compare with the Cessna Mustang regarding system requirements, frame rates etc?

Nice panel work.
Is the G1000 essentially the same one used in the Mustang? (As far as features go) |

Yes that is an awesome picture. I can't wait to see how wonderful that glass cockpit is going to look when actually running in the sim. Too bad there isn't a Youtube video! But I sure am glad that I upgraded to 400 series cards because man oh man that looks like some heavy stuff.

I hope it features an updatable database from Navigraph. Some might say it is useless with this size of aircraft but in Europe if you want to fly real airways and flight levels you just need to have up to date navdata and RNAV. It requires imagination to have a VOR to VOR or direct FPL accepted through Eurocontrol. Don't even mention flights that cross the country borders. IFR flying is made far easier in the US. Europe doesn't have LPV approaches, yet. The Navigraph data may not have approaches for the smaller airports but so what. The waypoint information is still the same. I think we've seen enough of those GPS versions that utilize the default FS navdata from 2005.
Thank you and apologies. Now, if I just get my coat...
Seriously, that looks sweet. Last April, after flying a couple of hundred hours in 30 year old Cessnas and Pipers, I got to fly IFR as pilot flying ICT-MKC in a 2008 Turbo 182T and it was so much fun. Looking forward to have similar feelings, flying in my own neighbourhoods, with the Flight1 182T. Regards from Finland, Tero |

You are welcome Tero,
I would like to point out to others here that we are more than happy to answer question as we are able, but we had to remove a lot of posts yesterday that were border line inflammatory. These type of posts and people will not be tolerated here. Ask your question politely and courteously like Tero and some others have and we will do our best to answer it when we are able. If you don't or if it escalates like yesterdays posts, we will go back to staying quiet until we are ready for release.
Regards,
Jim

I have a fairly basic PC; dual core 2.4 with 4gigs of ram running xp and a 512mgb card. I dont even know if xp uses all of the ram, but I dont have frame rate problems with the mustang. Even though the frame rate number is no that high, the mustang is pretty smooth as long as I keep the sliders reasonable. Based on Jim's comments, hopefully the 182 will be as good or better.

I am pretty sure it should be better. But again, many variables apply. We have no idea how a persons computer and settings are configured as well as the many other different modules, products, conflicts and possibilities are. That is why one guy can have a mediocre computer and claim good performance and another have an I7 and complain about performance.

They haven't made the RG version of any model since restarting the single piston production in 1996 or so. That of course means, as you know Retractable Gear.
The NAV II was the basic Bendix/King avionics suite before around 2005, the one you have in default 172 or the Flight1 172 and maybe KLN94 GPS and KMDxxx MFD. In 2005 or so they began to sell the planes with G1000, also known as the NAV III package. That is what those mean in general. Of course you can always have almost anything installed from the factory, for significant extra cost usually that is. Todays options for the NAV III is the SVT, Garmin FliteCharts or Jeppesen JeppCharts, SafeTaxi etc. FYI, there are a few free 182T and T182T NAV III POH's available in the internet. Google is your trusted friend. Br, Tero

I am Prv, Inst, and Comm rated and am an avid FSX die-hard fan. The G1000 with Navigraph support in the Flight1 Mustang is absolutely the best G1000 sim in the market thus far. Even if you custom build your panels with the Mindstar G1000 or FS2x G1000 in any single prop, it doesn't compare to the quality of F1's G1000 in the Mustang. So given the support for Navigraph along with a G1000 from F1 and Cessna in the 182T, I am absolutely ecstatic about this release. I am ready buy it now... pre-order. This plane is going to be aboslutely awesome.
Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7-980x, ATI Radeon 5970, 6GB DDR3, OCZ Turbo SSD, Win 7 64.

Let me look into the possibility of supporting both turbo and non-turbo versions.
No promises as it is getting late in the development cycle but I will look into it.
Also pbsmgm, thank you for your comments on our G1000. It is appreciated.
Here are links to both POH's:

So your saying at 182 with a G1000 is a 182 NAV III? The 182T NAV III is the Turbo version of the G1000 182?

Yes but lets keep it in perspective. Its a Nav III, but it is not a real Nav III or a 1:1 simulation of a Nav III. |

Ron,
See the variant listing here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_182 The 182T is the latest normally aspirated variant and when you add a T to make it T182T, that variant is a Turbo 182T. Confusing? Perhaps

Jim,
Is the G1000 ADF ready if I install an ADF? If it is in late development stages it probably is a little late to add the ADF to the panel. Does it have a DME or is the only avalable distance information from the GPS? Thanks

Guys, I cannot answer every minute bit of information with regards to the G1000. You have to keep in mind this is a Cessna 182 simulation first and foremost which just happens to have a G1000 in it that is probably more advanced than anything else on the market for entertainment, except the Mustang. If you are happy with the Mustangs G1000, you most likely will be happy with the one in the 182 simulation. However, it does have an ADF.
Regards,
Jim

Thank god its has an ADF, so many NDB approachs in Australia and with navigraph no covering all the RNAV approaches I still rely on the ADF.
So Im guessing this G1000 in the 182 will be more like the IRIS Da-20 or maybe the Eaglesoft DA-40 G1000. |
